Judgement Day

Behe, the primary witness for defending intelligent design. He uses the primary argument of ID, Irreducible Complexity, a 19th century argument used against evolution.

I think I partied with Behe

I'm a religious fanatic yet I still believe in evolution.
The Catholic church has embraced it but the goal of the intelligent design proponents is to eliminate the scientific process. Under their definition, astrology is a legitimate scientific theory and should be taught in science class.

Ben Stein, along with his creationist cronies are releasing a movie to engage in a new attack against science.....

From what I've seen, it's nothing more than a propaganda movie from creationists...ID is not science.........

That's why self proclaimed scientists are dismissed from positions....they aren't advocating science but mythology.

I did time in Catholic school. They taught evolution in AP Bio and all of the lesser bio classes and no one sniffled, bitched, or moaned. It must be a phenomenon primarily restricted to Protestants and self-loathing Jews, a la Ben Stein, who desperately want to be "perfected." :nopity:

The catholic church has no problem teaching evolution in science class and keeping theology in theology class. I hoped it was the end of it after the 2005 court case. Unfortunately, they're coming back with what looks to be a hack job "documentary", very common these days, lie about the subject of the interview and then chop edit it to fit your position. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release.

I'm starting to agree with Europe when they question the intelligence of the average American.....

aren't intelligent people labeled "elitists" here? I guess it's now become a negative in this country to devote yourself to lifelong research and NOT come to the predetermined conclusions they want you to. It is the downfall of civilization when the gifted are scoffed at. Everything gets "pulled to the mean" in this country............."everything". I'm fascinated by people who are obviously gifted by god and are vastly more intelligent than me...........I want to "LEARN" from them. Unfortunately, in this country, people just want the status qou and are completely threatened by people who bring something else to the table.

I agree, spirituality is a very personal journey, and everyone should follow their own path to hopefully find truth. Unfortunately, religion retards individual growth for a doctrine based on empowering others. Enlightenment should be individual based on their path and not made into a religion or imposed on another. Science and religion are diametrically opposed, teach theology in theology class.

one could argue that science is relgion. If I were smart enough to be eligible for work at CERN.........it would by my lifelong goal to delve as deep into the universe as possible and see god's handiwork at a level that no other humans do. That seems like real relgion to me.......finding god through the intellectual process. "IF" there is a god...........he's one heck of a scientist.........anyone that's ever studied basic physics can grasp that.

Science is about natural law and people that focus on natural law, as myself, could call it a "religion" but all religions rely on faith....unlike science.
