Jones Sparkman Road...

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Got out of class today and headed down the back roads. Took a new one today, or one I hadn't been down in a while. Jones Sparkman Road. Don't think I ever even met another car.

Sometimes life seems simpler here in Kentucky. Sometimes it just all seems to come together. We get caught up in the fast lane of life, making money, interstates, bars, drugs, one night stands, and big parties. Is that really the good life?

Windows down, right arm hanging out in the sun. Driving at 20 mph, light clouds. Radio turned up...way up. I can feel the seat vibrate from the music and my heart beats to the words. Sometimes I wonder if I could ever survive without the country...

Just a few thoughts...and a few words that inspired me today...

"Where The Green Grass Grows"

Six Lanes, tail lights
Red ants marching into the night
They disappear to the left and right again

Another supper from the sack
A ninety-nine cent heart attack
I've got a pounding head and an achin' back
My Camels buried in a big straw stack

I'm gonna live where the green grass grows
Watch my corn pop up in rows
Everynight be tucked in close to you
Raise our kids where the good Lord's blessed
Point our rocking chairs towards the west
And plan our dreams where the peaceful river flows
Where the green grass grows

Well I'm from a map dot
A stop sign on a black top
I caught the first bus that I could hop from there
But all of this glitter is getting dark
There's concrete growing in the city park
I don't know who my neighbors are
And there's bars on the corner and bars on my heart

I'm gonna live where the green grass grows
Watch my corn pop up in rows
Everynight be tucked in close to you
Raise our kids where the good Lord's blessed
Point our rocking chairs towards the west
And plan our dreams where the peaceful river flows
Where the green grass grows

Born Country
(John Schweers/Byron Hill)

Clear creeks and cool mountain mornin's.
Honest work out in the fields.
Cornbread in my momma's kitchen.
Daddy saying grace before the meal.
Family ties run deep in this land.
And I'm never very far from what I am.

I was born country and that's what I'll always be.
Like the rivers and the woodlands wild and free.
I got a hundred years of down home running through my blood.
I was born country and this country's what I love.

Moonlight and you hear beside me.
Crickets serenadin' in the yard.
What more could two people ask for.
Laying here in love beneath the stars.
Now this is where I wanna raise my kids.
Just the way my mom and daddy did.

I was born country and that's what I'll always be.
Like the rivers and the woodlands wild and free.
I got a hundred years of down home running through my blood.
I was born country and this country's what I love.

I was born country and that's what I'll always be.
Like the rivers and the woodlands wild and free.
I got a hundred years of down home running through my blood.
I was born country and this country's what I love.

I was born country

Walkin' Back To Georgia
Written by - Jim Croce
From - You Don't Mess Around With Jim
I'm walkin' back to Georgia
And I hope she will take me back
Nothin' in my pockets
And all I own is upon my back

Chorus:
But she's the girl who said she loved me
On that hot dusty Macon road
And if she's still around
I'm gonna settle down
With that hard lovin' Georgia girl

I'm walkin' back to Georgia
She's the only one who knows
How it feels when you lose a dream
And how it feels when you dream alone

Chorus

Georgia can you hear me callin'
Oh I'll be home in just a while
And if I had to I'd be crawlin'
Just to share another mornin' smile

But you're the girl who said you loved me
On that hot dusty long ago
And if you're still around
I'm gonna settle down
With you my hard lovin' Georgia girl...because

I'm walkin' back to Georgia
And I hope she will take me back
Nothin' in my pockets
And all I own is upon my back

Chorus

There never seems to be enough time to do the things ya wanna do once you find them...

Same here in TN. I love the country. You can drive down a country road and never meet anyone. It's great. Nothing more soothing. Driving 20 or driving 90. Sometimes you don't realize how good you really have it. I know I don't.
