That was there year man. I really thought my boys were going to pull it out. I still thought they had a chance after Brown passed too.

The fog bowl was a horrid memory of my childhood. I had to have therapy for that. Thanks for reminding me!

nah, fog bowl was late 80s.. i think 89.. i was a sophomore in HS so i am pretty sure thats the year...

and by the way, that game was fucking bullshit!!! they couldnt see, how can they win?

buddy? hahahaha, i LOVED buddy ryan!!! but as far as offensive coaches go he wasnt the best... but hey, it seemed all his guys wanted to play for him... even randall wanted to go to arizona with buddy....

and that right there answers your question... arizona had a good defense, philly had a good defense, chicago had a good defense... and yes, even houston had a good defense when he was there (remember he hit the OL coach on the side... awesome)...

but he wasnt a good head coach... he was fun, but not real good.

H.I... its not that bad when you throw in the Offensive linemen... they were one of the worst lines in the league... and top it off with names like... joseph and sherman.... who are they you say? exactly my point... they were just 2 of the rb's the eagles had in those years... they never had THAT BACK to get them over the hump... they did get hershel... 6 years post prime.

as a skins fan, I was sad to see him go. He was a stud, on a defense full of studs. I mean that defense was awesome. It's too bad that randall hurt his knee in 92 and it was as too bad they couldn't put a halfway decent offense on the field.

I had some time tonight, so I found my old football encyclopedia:

The "fog bowl" was December 31, 1988, Philadelphia losing 20-12. That was one of the oddest games I have ever watched..the cameramen must have been going crazy trying to catch anything happening on the field.
The '91 Eagles defense (last year with Jerome) let the league in fewest total yards, fewest rushing yeards, and fewest passing yards-ONLY the fifth team ever to achieve all 3 in a season. (as of this 1993 edition) Listen to the QB lineup that year: Randall Cunningham (first 18 minutes until knee injury), Jim McMahon-the Fred Lynn of football, Pat Ryan, Brad Goebel, and Jeff Kemp. Yeah, the D really had to step up!
Looking at their roster, I've noticed alot of names I'd forgotten..great team to watch. As a matter of fact, I still like watching NFC East football over any other divsion-their 80's/early 90's power football was the best!!

Buddy Ryan always seemed like a good motiviational guy to play for...not the charisma of a Tom Landry but a guy you'd respect. He'd talk shit to the media too..funny guy

hey mdguy... that eagles team finished first in EVERY STATISTICAL CATEGORY!!!!!!!!!!!! how unbelievable is that??? they also finished that season 10-6 and didnt make the playoffs... them and the niners were out looking in!!! both at 10-6.. talk about a tough season, the two teams playing the best football were on the outside looking in...

i remember that first game, it was televised in detroit cuz the birds played the pack.... randall hurt his knee near the goal line and the team settled for 3... first half of the first game that season.. unbelievable!!!!!!!!

how bout 93 when randall broke his leg and all the wonderful fans of NY (who bitch and moan about eagle fans being assholes cheering injuries) were all giddy about randall going out.... next thing you know eric allen (all time favorite cb) is handing randall the ball in the endzone (randall on crutches)... that was awesome, and that made randall come back too... but fuck ray rhodes!!!!!!!!!!!! that bitch fucked randall hard.... RODNEY FUCKING PEETE??????????????????????????????????????
