This sounds yummy!! :p I don't have a toaster over. Can I make this in a regular over - will the tortilla still come out crispy? Also, any recommendation on a cleaner version of BBQ sauce? I can't find the Walden Farms brand anywhere near me, but I can order it online if I must.

Sure you can use the regular oven....just watch the tortilla cuz it'll crisp up quick......And I just use regular BBQ sauce & just brush it on lightly with a basting brush I got at the Dollar Store...

You could also thin out some regular BBQ sauce (like 1 teaspoon) with a bit of veggie broth....

9:30am - Physical Therapy
Did the usual today - Leg Extensions, Lower Leg Extensions with knee on a ball, TKEs - but increased the reps....looks like next time we'll up the weight & lower the reps....After my "workout" & manipulation - got -2 hyperextension & 139 degrees flex!!!! Also saw Marty briefly who said once I can begin doing closed-chain exercises, I'll progress further much more rapidly.....

Also have been getting the insurance reports showing them paying for my brace & hospital stay, etc......The brace was just over $1600 and my stay in the hospital was just under $12,000!!!! Thank God for insurance!!
:worried:

**Got a manicure & pedicure today.....and bought some Super-Cute Flip Flops!! OH and my shoulders are SORE from yesterday.....*Yay!*

**Loooooooooove the Trex (forgot all about you darling!) - Wasn't hungry while I was out and I was alert......

ha ha ha! insurance is it. I owned and operated a small DME company for a few years, I found a little niche and filled it in my town. Sold it a couple years ago, great money, but I got a little bored with it.
You are lucky if it was fully covered. most plans only cover 50%-80% of DME (your braces) you know, your ROM brace the one that goes from crotch to ankle, that bugger reimburses at $655.10 and only actually wholesale costs $90-120 to your PT or MD!
Your functional brace wholesale cost is between $260-$530 depending the maker ie. Donjoy, Innovation Sports (CTI), Breg, Meuller etc. Customs ($530) if you add paint or decals or custom airbrush will bump it up $100.00, but they reimburse at $1510.00 then you have various add on codes, which again bump up the price that insurance pays.
The MD's. PT's and DME suppliers make a KILLING!! Insurance payouts are crazy, all these prices are dictated by Medicare pay schedules and we all have to pay the co-pays , which usually more than cover the actual wholesale cost of the brace/devices. The rest is gravy.
That foam immobilizer cost from $35-55... depending on the maker, but reimburses at $210.00! a piece a foam, metal stays and velcro.... sheesh.
Glad you have good insurance!

Interesting...... I have to pay $150 for the brace & $332 for the hospital out of pocket......still waiting to see if my "emergency" visit the day after I hurt myself will be covered or not......

yay! thats a great co-pay!

Small Announcement.....

Won't be logging Friday - Monday as I'm heading to VT tomorrow.....my ski share is up on the 15th & I have to get the rest of my stuff......Plus, another funny thing is that DE only has a 5 cent deposit on bottles, not cans - but VT has a deposit on cans AND bottles - so I've been saving up all the cans with a VT stamp on them in addition to the micro-brew beer I bring home from up there (liquor stores won't take the bottles back down here as they don't sell that beer). Looks like I have 168 deposit items to return!! LOL

Well then, since you liked them so much, here's a pic of my new Flip Flops which cost a whopping $8.00!! (Dang! I have sock marks....*blush*)

OK here are some knee pics:

This is the brace I have to wear:

A little closer up:

I've got 5 incisions total, you can see them a little better here....this pic is from about 1 week ago or so. You can really see how much muscle I've lost....

xpy7go.jpg

Oh and from today, Lindsay just had to get involved with the picture taking....LOL

xpy9l5.jpg

First, I love the sandles and the color of the nail polish!
Second, how long do you have to wear your brace? (legs still look good)
Third, love the kitty! :)

I saw this and thought of you.

Love the flip flops!

:FRlol: @ sock marks

I don't think your legs look bad. My friend has a scar from the top of the kneecap to the bottom of it, it's about 12 inches long.

Cute kitty!

I'll send you a pic of my knee's, it will make you feel MUCH better about your scarage! I have about 13 inches in 12 different places on one knee and 3 on the other.... you look great! They will fade in about 6 months.

Thanks all!!

Q-Tip: LOVE LOVE LOVE that .gif image......Definitely saving that.....

Cali: Oh I can imagine - I've seen some zippers at PT....I'm using Mederma on the scars so I'm hoping they fade....but I scar bady - scars on me don't heal well....but if they look too too badly I may have them redone by a plastic surgeon....

CK - Thanks!! Just got the toes done yesterday.......I will have to wear the brace anytime I'm out & about (like the store, etc) & will have to wear it skiing next year. Now I see my Dr. again 5/22 so I may not have to wear it everywhere all summer (I hope!!)

Legs still look good to me too :) I had a couple friends tear there ACL in basketball (I managed to stay lucky) but there quad shrunk to bout half the size so keep up the good work!!! ;)

Great shoes and pics. Though it still makes the backs of my legs tingle when I think about what you've been through :worried:

Hiya Jens! Hope you're feeling ok today & that the leg isn't hurting. :rose:

I have a question on an old thread of yours regarding milk. http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324048&highlight=eliminating+dairy

I wasn't sure if I should post on something that old so I thought I would ask if you did in fact cut out dairy and if so, what were the results?

I think I may be developing an intolerance to dairy and I'm getting ready to cycle out dairy. Probably replace it with a soy based product.

Heyyyyy Q-tip!! I ended up, yes, cutting out dairy from my diet for the most part & pretty much still do, tho I do eat cottage cheese & yogurt occasionally........Seems that without it, my stomach is flatter.....

:bigkiss: Perfect timing - Thank you so much!

Today is grocery shopping day and I was sitting here eating sweet potatoe & some salmon while making my grocery list. It might take a while to cycle out the eggs cuz I have 2.5 dozen in the fridge.

Hi Jens! Just looked at all of your photos. Looks like your knee is coming along well. Wow, your ski slopes look like serious business!! You got my respect big time! Ohio isn't big on mountains like VT. In fact we really don't have any true "mountains" here LOL!

Sending my love to ya! I'm still around - just lurking more than conversing :)

I hope it passes for you quickly. I can totally relate. There really is nothing anyone can say, because ulitmately you have to go thru it. Good days, bad days. After this is all done you will look back and hopefully think, that it went by fast. You will be stronger for it! :) feel better soon.

My thoughts as well... Even the most inspired person still has to survive the day to day stuff. But you also can never forget that at the end of day, that is one more day that you will never have. And I have to remind myself to not take these for granted. I try to look for even one small improvement or accomplishment each day. (Yesterday it was vacuuming cat hair off my 2nd floor....)

I can't even summon up the energy to vacuum up cat hair, let alone spell this.....

I can't do this for right now....

One thing about ef chix - the heart & spirit are always here when you're ready...

(the cat hair also seems to always be here ....)

Not really, TBH.....hungover today - got DRUNK last nite.....

Just incredibly depressed......

Heavy bummage :( Sorry to hear that, and a hangover to boot....

If you want to explore it -- I've occassionally fallen into the depression thing and every time I get to the point where i actually go talk to someone about it, they start to recommend all the script crap that makes you gain weight - which of course would only serve to make me more depressed..... Anyway I usually end up throwing in some inositol - its just a B vitamin (forget which one) in powder form -- for somethign that is not a script, fairly cheap and quicky it seems to help while I work on getting the rest of my shit in order.

Here's some of the discussion on it from the search function:
