Getting Gholston under contract before he could miss too much camp was crucial. While other teams viewed Gholston as a combine phenom who won't have much bearing on Sundays, the Jets are banking he'll make a significant impact.

Gholston is a 6-foot-4, 260-pound hybrid end with a lot to learn.

He didn't try football until he was a sophomore in high school and didn't play on defense until he was a senior. He left Ohio State after his junior season. His 22 1/2 sacks in a two-year span were more than any other collegian.

But Gholston had scouts drooling at the combine and his pro day in Columbus, where he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds and registered a 42-inch vertical jump.

But, with Cimini reporting the deal could be worth close to $9 million a year, Gholston better be able to translate eye-bugging test scores into big-time plays.

OLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who better than to sign the next Mike Mamula than you New York Pets?

Usually Lb's are a good pick, so I think they may have drafted well for once.

He will be a bust.

It has been stated time and time again that he is a bodybuiler and loves the weights. Most "experts" think he is too big to play in the NFL, meaning he is jacked.

It reminds me of David Boston.

the jets always pick garbage. i was at the combine training facility where bryan thomas was getting ready. he was their first round draft pick a few years ago. did really good at the combine and garbage so far on sunday.

the jets dont look at brains or effort, if they did, thomas would have never been picked.

remember, david boston was not huge in college. it was in the pros when he exploded.

jets are one of two teams who have inquired about favre.

would love to see favre beat the pats.

a little nervous, buddy?

gholston = jevon kearse, hopefully without the injury proneness

uh....that was the herman edwards era. way different than the tannenbaum/mangini era.

bryan thomas had 1 really good year and then sucked it up last year.

Im not sure how I feel about gholston.........we'll find out on sundays. The jets arent the only team that has made some bad picks in the first round. Many teams have done it. Everyone also thought they should have moved up and picked reggie bush or matt leinhert and they have not lived up to expectations as most first rounders dont live up to the hype.

Im not sure how I would feel about Farve as a Jet. He has tendency to throw too many int's and he'll be in a completely new system.

Jets couln't win with Tom Brady

Brady got to the AFC championship game and lost it in the end in 06', with Reche Caldwell, Troy Brown and Jabar Gaffney as his only recievers

I wouldn't put it past him

All I know is the Jets have basically no QB, having favre could be the difference between 7-9 and 11-5........ just saying.

correction................olololol.........

whats with the jets haters.........all i have to say is lets wait for the season. AFC east is going to be interesting with the jets and bills who rebuild themselves and the pats that are on there way out

and the pats that are on there way out

like they were when they lost Ty Law, lawyer milloy and Tyrone Poole in 02' and went on to win the superbowl
or when they lost their coordinatores offense and defense
and..
and ...
and.....
and...........
rinse and repeat
Pats will still dominate
if you think not, you are a blind homer

Jets have improved, that I can say.

Now stop slapping your cocktail frank all over the keyboard

No doubt the pats are still one of the best if not the best team going into the season based on the past few years...........I just think that their D is no longer going to be as dominant as it was in the past and their O line is getting old. If Brady gets hurt they are done. That being said I think the bills and the jets will fight for the division this year, not saying they will win, but they have a good chance this year. Im not fearful of the pats D any longer and with the jets improved O- line will open up alot more opportunities for them to win........imo

I stopped reading when you said our o-line is getting old
you lost ALL credibilty there bro
AVG age of our O-line is 28 years old

Koppen 28(pro bowl selection)
Light 30 (pro bowl selection)
Logan Makins 26 (pro bowl selection)
Steven Neal 31
Nick Kazcur 28

conversation over..........
you fail

You don't understand the concept of roster depth
That's how you win, something most orginizations know very little

no, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You have been fairly objective alot of the times
It's more Lartinos and CW that give me, puddles, and FFOS such comedy with their predictions and blinders.

I guess being a jet fan since the mid 80's dosent allow you to talk much. But it could be worse...i could be a lions or bengals fan

I came across this Jets thread and was wondering what Jets fans think of the quarterback situation with Tebow and Sanchez.

Seriously quit it. Last warning
