This is mainly for the really big guys on the forum. So you walk into the gym and you see some average size guy lifting, you see some muscle but nothing really to gawk at.
What do you think?
aww i remember those days
keep trucking little buddy
or i can't believe pee wee is even in the same gym as me.

i just want to know.
Cause when i'm struggle with your guys warm up weight i always wonder what your thinking.

i dont think anything. i only wish they would stop staring and interupting my lifts to ask questions. it never fails. i feal like a dick at least once per wk there is a new member that doesnt know me and i have to try to catch him when im done and explain the whole focus thing. lol 95% of them quit before they even make any progress any way lol.

I'm not big by any means but i don't think anything of them. I just hate the people that don't put shit away and hog equipment and interrupt my lifting.

agreed. ask me if your there in 5 months.

when are you going to get rid of that avitar. this is the 100th time i have seen it and i still have to stare for a minute. one day im going to get cought.

I guess I'm stuck in the coach's corner: I ask myself if I think his/her routine is going to pay off, is someone giving an honest effort or just dogging it, how to they look compared to 6 weeks ago? I can't say my opinions are always correct, but it's a fun game and always ends up teaching me something.

Well being one of the average guys, I don't talk much to any of the big guys in there.. to think about it, there aren't many big big guys in my gym haha. So I just keep my killswitch playing and concentrate on my workout.
If I was 280 then I would feel big :)

+1.. I go to my gym in the afternoon and there are very few people there.. yet all the bars will have weights on them and stuff will be all over the place, lol. I look around and the couple guys there aren't using any of it.

im not a big guy.. hell maybe not even a avg guy. but i do the core lifts so i dont feel bad about it.. but i do wonder, do you guys ever chime in and tell a guy who youve seen enough to know his routine that hes wasting his time. like the guys who never squat/dl/ and do chest/isolation lifts all day. i see some but id feel like a dick if i was to try and give advice

It would probably be good of big guys to do this.

I mean sometimes u see some really hilarious things - newbs doing 1 hour biscep sessions, explosive DB kickbacks, inventing new exercises (b/c they of course have the expertese to do this),
but I never known given my current size whether to comment.

The same newbs of course never doing legs (except for maybe calf raises if they may wear shorts) or deadlifts.

I hope to be 5-10kg LBM bigger eventually and feel like I can impart useful advice (in a non-condescending fashion) and it actually get listened to.

In most cases, I don't really notice them. I kind of zone out and get stuck in my own head. I blare the MP3 player and am "intimidating looking"(per the gym staff) so no one ever approaches me. But.....every now and then......someone will catch me eye......usually someone just getting started. You know the type....deer in the headlights look.......lifting but all over the place.....looking around for help but too afraid to make a fool out of themselves. Those are the ones I approach......those are the ones that deserve so extra attention. I will always extend any help I can give them and always tell them if they see me not to be scared to come up and ask me a question if they need help. The only way to learn is to ask........I know it is hard to do for a beginner so I kind of give them the opportunity to ask if they need it.

This is one of my rules: Never, never, never offer unsolicited advice. You'd think constructive criticism would be welcome, but it's not. I'm happy to spend time if someone asks, otherwise it's best to allow people their own space. If they want to increase their knowledge, that's what the Internet is for.

I agree with you.

I rarely speak with anyone at the gym. It is my time. Sometimes people will ask me questions, but it is usually when I am doing an odd lift. Squat, deadlift, row, etc lol. I never offer unsolicited advice. It always falls on deaf ears.

I don't mind the odd chatting at the gym, exchange of knowledge, etc. Between sets and what not.. Just gets annoying when they keep going on when it's clear your trying to start your next set.

Right on bro..

Offering advice when it's not asked of you is a total douche move. I'd say the only time to offer advice is if someone is doing something absolutely unsafe.

Never bash ANYONE in the gym.. They are at least IN the gym, trying - unlike so many other fat asses I see on the outside.

giving unsolicited advice is not my thing. Giving any advice is not good for me either.

i focus on the big lifts. Squat, DL, Bench and standing overhead barbell presses. not many people in my gym do them. yes some bench, even fewer squat. i hvnt seen anyone else DL in months. so anything i would hv to say would be meaningless. unless i became part of the curl in the squat rack crowd......
