iv decided to change up my deadlifting days some

Sub-Zero

High End Bro
Platinum
im thinking of every 2nd or 3rd deadlift workout im going to do it completely strap free, sort of a way to train my grip better and not keep going super heavy on deadlifts all the time

cut out the straps all together. unless youre going for one or two max effort why wear straps? only short changing your grip.

if you want to improve your grip hit farmers walks without the straps.

i use straps starting at 3 plates

and fuggetaboutit if you think my grip/forearms are weak/notbig

if you need to use straps for a better BACK workout, so be it

who cares about grip, it's not like you should be working forearms because they need extra attention

then again i'm a bodybuilder, not a powerlifter

i wear straps because i want a big deadlift and big physique and the muscles that deal with grip are way smaller and weaker in general than the muscles that deal with the deadlifting motion.

why short change your back and legs because your so worried about grip?

i work my grip usually by taking the wide/thick bar and deadlifting it up and holding it in intervals of 15-30 seconds. kills traps too.

word. i care about my strength, alot, cause i wanan be strong, AND big.

i used straps starting at 3 plates, but i was warming up without straps and got 315 strapless for easy warmup reps. so my grip isnt that bad, and im gunna work on strapless deads at the time interval stated in my first post

because brah, saying that you never use straps, and making fun of anyone that does somehow makes you ultra cool.

i've never had a problem with grip, over-under i'm strong as an ox.
for reps over 8 though my grip starts to falter but i rarely go over 5 reps

yea i know, i can get 450 without straps/chalk for 2 to 3 rep sets and 315 for 12 rep sets and i only weigh 190. my point is, youre exaggerating a weakness by using the straps. i think its a good idea you dont use them. im supporting your change and advocating you get rid of them altogether.

ronnie coleman uses straps, if that means anything
and sub have you ever tried the "hooks"?
metal hooks that grip the bar, they work badass for pullups and rows

if you are that much stronger than the rest of ure body during DL's that you hurt yourself, you should stop doing them

yea but ronnie is doing alot more than i could ever do. if i ever got to that point i would probably think about them too. but i have a very average deadlift so i avoid using them anyway, makes everything else stronger.

double bodyweight dl is above average, esp for a non-juicer

cool, we deadlift about the same. except i dont care about my grip enough to deal with gay switch grip, and chalking up. i care about my deadlift, so i deadlift. i do care about grip some, though, which is why i do train it separately.

but props on your high strapless dead

do you even deadlift? your legs are tiny bro

supreme pwnage right there...

try the hex bar.. you could prob. dead like 500 lbs for 2 or 3 reps and straps aren't necessary..

i've never used straps for normal deads but my grip always fails.. i can't do a mixed grip because i broke my wrist when i was younger and it just feels awkward when i try mixed... therefore for normal barbell deads i only do an overhand grip and can prob. barely get 315 x 10 before grip fails..

anyhow i tried hexbar yesterday for firsttime ever and it straight up owns for deadlifting.. hammers quads hams back and traps..

iv used the hex bar back in the day and i felt like it was too much of a squat exersise and less back/pulling when the grips are right by your body,

I've always wanted a thick bar, but the damn things cost, like, over $300 before shipping.

And why wouldn't you imploy a mixed grip when DLing? It doesn't make a damn difference save more grip power... dude, your arms are only extentions for this lift. It doesn't matter if one hand is supinated. Just use a mixed grip and toss the straps.

I don't see a problem using straps for your heavy sets unless you plan on competing in powerlifting; I use straps for my heavy sets. I wonder how many people advocating to never use straps are pulling 500+ pounds for 5+ reps?

I could pull 500 for 5 on a good day without straps but I'm not really advocating not using them. I don't think people realize how strong their grip really is until they try out chalk (if gym allows it)

I usually go rawdawg for my deads and then use straps for all my following back exercises.

hmm i've never tried chalk.. however i saw this dude repping 365 x 5 on bench the other day using straps prob. the funniest thing i've ever seen..

I have tendonitis issues if I use an alternating grip so I deadlift overhand. I also don't let the plates touch the mat when I'm deadlifting for more than two reps, which is a lot more stressful on the grip.

I deadlift and squat in the same workout, I never use a belt.

string_bean00 said:
not using a belt has made my obliques overgrown I think, they are too big
I think that has more to do with diet and your slowing metabolism. :)

Even if that is the case, I think that chronic belt wearing leads to a weakness in your torso which makes it more likely for you to be injured.

lol they are not lovehandles, they are stupid wads of muscle popping off the sides of my waist

awsome dude, iv seen that pic like a million times. not to mention the fact that youv used steroids, and im completely natural, so that also makes your advice and stupid 5 year old pictures bullshit.

ur huge though, so dont think im saying you arnt.

how much/what do you eat? most likely your "bulking fatty pics" are genetics, but on the off chance it isnt, help me out.

but anyway you still look pretty fuckin thick in the abdomen area and it probably makes your v-taper suffer some. you probably look thick and "fat" to the avarage person when wearing a shirt because of your thick sides

you talk a lot of shit yet never post pics

I will put everything I own on the line and say every measurement on my body is bigger than yours and I'm taller than you

I concur...sublimezm needs to post some pics....it's an e-rule that if you talk shit about someone's physique you are obliged to post a pic.... just sayin'

iv posted my share of pics in the day, and of course your measurements will be bigger if your taller. and maybe you are bigger all around, but in terms of proportionality its kinda goofy to have arms the size of your legs.

plus i was just fucking around with you, juicer ;)

you just post the same years old pics over and over. for all i know your fat now.

plus the rule is, you cant say you look better than someone, without posting pics. for example "wow you have small legs, mine are way bigger than yours".

but i never did that, i just made comments without saying i was any better

you obliques/waist do look a little thick and hurt your v-taper, just like mine, and i know that's not fat on there

you are jacked tho

That picture was from March 5, 2007 after my bulk....235-240 to a solid 250. that's as fat as I get bor.....first time I "bulked" in years.

This is a year old picture before a cut......

My physique hasn't changed much in years but I'm also naty....

Disparaging someone's physique when they didn't ask for criticism is bad borly material...fatty... :) Now post up your fat ass... :)

You claiming they are average is YOUR opinion, plenty of guys would consider them hot and others would consider them ugly. When you make a comment like that the implication is you have higher standards.....which is why people want you to prove what your OPINION of attractive might be based on the hawt women you hang with....

Remember, bodybuilding is about opinion...how many "who should have placed X in Y competition" have you read?

this is one of mine I consider her very attractive....my opinion...

another milf I considered attractive.....

About seven years "off cycle"...lol. I was 190 and 10% BF @ 17 before I even worked out. :) I'm legal to compete in naty competitions except for the lifetimes... :)
