I'm getting one saturday. will I be in pain afterwards?

I asked for one after the baby, and my doctor looked at me as if I had asked him to put a volkswagon up there. He said no one uses those anymore and tried everything in the world to dissuade me. I don't know why.

Since I can't use hormones due to heart disease, I use the copper iud... at first it hurt like hell and my period went from 4 to 10 days. the mirena is brand new!
it's good so far. i mean, i'm not pregnant, so thats good. No complications, other than some spotting, but he said that would end soon.
