I know most people are mindless drones who only listen to the media, but global warming is exactly about extreme climitary conditions... including hot summers and cold winters.

This weather is global warming.

Extreme conditions ? Well Eastern Canada has always been about extremes (hot summers, cold winters). In fact, we're basically getting those pre-1990 winters back...

It's -30 w/ windshield in the north of IL right now.

I always find it amusing when I walk out in the morning, breath in through my nose and feel the cold freezing all the moisture up there.

Kinda like a menthol cig.

Oh, wind! Fun stuff. Rip off my face on my 10 sec walk from the door to my car, sweet! :)

how anyone lives in a colder climate than me is beyond me,
The northeast is as cold as I could ever deal with.
High temp tomorrow 15!

so global cooling is a moderation of temps? How do we not know we are at the beginning of a cooling trend? It's hard not to look at this science as more of guessing than anything.

it's -9 at my house now.

but i read (i don't know where now) that global warming also means higher highs and lower lows and not to be fooled into thinking that abnormally cold weather means there's no global warming... abnormally cold weather actually is proof.

Samoth knows hit shit, there's another thread about it. The thread started because last year was the first year of overall cooling in a hundred years. Looks like we may have two stright years on our hands, New york had a very mild summer last year. not sure how the rest of the country was..

exactly what i just said.
:)

no, this isn't the magical start of a 'cooling trend'... and i don't think anyone will be mentioning cooling trends year after year in the summer, as we hit record highs either.

but it's hot there in the summer. over 90F

so it's okay. it balances out, see?

that's why you should go there and stand outside in your shorts and t-shirt only when it's -70°F and then balance it out in the summer when it's over 90°F. better yet go to Antarctica when it's -120°F and balance it out at Death Valley in the summer. just saying. :D

That's actually the problem: it's nothing abnormal right now. Eastern Canada was always known for its very cold winters and hot summers. That trend stopped in the early 90's until 2 years ago when we finally got our normal weather back.

When we had warm winters, tree huggers were all out there saying this was proof because normally, instead of -2 it should have been -20. Now whats the argument ?

Seriously can we get some global warming ? Not a lot just a little bit. Gotta keep some for "demographic purposes" in other parts of the planet.
