The only Middle Eastern State where an Arab has the right to vote for his leader is Israel.

Israel should not consider negotiating peace until it is negotiating with democratically elected rulers.

Neither of those have elections. How long has Mubarak been in power in Egypt? Near 20 years....longer than a lot of Pharaohs... And not by open election. Lebanon did have them, but the US didn't help things when we tried to rig them....but tehy don't have them now.

* egypt is a dictatorship, yet the US is in bed with the egyptians. I thought the US was all about supporting democracy. Then why do we finance the egyptians? Hypocracy in action. egypt imprisons and murders many religious figures, yet we give China all kinds of shit for the same crimes. No wonder why the US is so popular in egypt.

* I keep hearing about arabs being able to vote in isreali elections. Can you go into more detail? I've never heard of this except on Elite. Do the arabs in the occupied territories get to vote too? Do the jewish settlers in the occupied territories get to vote in isreali elections since technically the don't live in isreal? How many arabs actually reside in isreal?

* The US can't let go of it's ally. That would be wrong. We need to stay loyal to our friends. Just as long as they're not named Noriega or the Shah. But I digress.

I guess I missed something.

We support egypt as part of a peace agreement reached between Israel and Egypt. Each get the same foreign aid from us, dollar for dollar. This was done to mitigate our appearance of bias in the Middle East. Guess it failed.

Israeli citizens, who are Arabs, may vote in Israeli elections.
