Isolate vs casein - which one is cleaner?

Is caseine protein as good and clean as the isolate, or it will have more lactose and carbs in it? What would be a better choice for the night - caseine or isolate?

Both a pure whey isolate and a good quality casein supplement will have no lactose per serving. They are two very different protein supplements however.

Milk protein is naturally comprised of roughly 80% casein and 20% whey. Whey protein is very fast digesting and rapidly assimilated which makes it optimal for use around workout times. Casein protein coagulates and creates a gel in the stomach. Casein protein is very slow digesting and it optimal for use around bed time.

The biggest thing though is to read the ingredients list carefully of whatever protein supplement you are planning on using. A lot of protein supplements have carbohydrate fillers and sugar added. There are a lot of good products on the market but I personally use isolation from n2bm.com as my whey protein isolate.

As long as you get a high quality protein, both the casein and isolates are very clean products and have no lactose in them. However, they are quite different in the way they work (as it has already been explained by @muskate), so you should use them for the right purposes.

If you wanna get something for the night - casein is your choice as its pretty slow in digestion. Especially if you sleep for long.

However, I would still consume isolate as my stomach gets quite upset from casein.
