Is XBOX 360 worth the money without a giantastic flat panel uber-cool plasma television?

Re: Is XBOX 360 worth the money without a giantastic flat panel uber-cool plasma tele

My 2 cents worth is that the XBOX 360 looks great even on my old Panasonic 27". My biggest complaint is the XBOX 360! Mine just quit again now for the second time - three red lights on the ring i.e., hardware failure. The first time it cost me $139 because it was past the 90 day warranty. They refunded $96 due it to it being the fault of the equipment.

I am now going through the exact same thing 60 days later. They are sending another return shipping box and have billed me $109, with an option to buy a 1 yr. ($29) or 2 yr.($59) extended warranty.

I built in additional circulation fans around the enlcosure soon after buying it from the problems other were describing. I had to laugh when XBOX customer service commented maybe we were playing too long and overheating it.

On a blog their was a comment that Microsoft will have these issues resolved after the first of the year in 2007. If this is true, I would definitely not buy one before then, if at all.

Yes it is a problem. Microsoft eventually came out and said they would replace all concoles manufactured before Jan 1 2006. I would call, speak to a higher up until they fixed it for free.

Luckily I have not had the 3 red light problem although I am thinking it is only a matter of time.

If you are speaking of the intercooler you buy and place on the back of the console I would not do that. It only makes the problem worse and also voids any warranty you have. They can tell if you have used one.

I saw the ps3 and played it just 30 min ago and I'm not impressed.

The graphics are on par (or less) than the xbox360.

That thing is the size of an eighties VCR.

No intercooler, nothing attached to the XBOX 360 itself. Just circulation fans mounted in my entertainment center. I monitored the temperature over time in and around the XBOX with a thermocouple and data logged the temperture.

last i checked the FCC is forcing cable companies to convert to digital cable instead of analog sometime this January, but i doubt this actually goes through 100%. Digital TV's (SDTV & HDTV) need to come waaay down in price before the change gets implemented. Only a matter of time before an analog TV will need a special set-top box to convert digital signals into analog signals.

i have an old projection hd tv will these system still work with my shit.. i've never even seen hd on my tv had it for like 4 years..

Yes.

As long as the back of your tv has a component input (YPbPr - yellow, blue & red) then you are good to go. Simply plug the component cables in, set it to HD on the xbox and you will have it.
