Is this going through a red light?

I`ll try to explain, At an intersection with a two lane road, One lane goes straight and the right lane goes slightly right off the main road to merge on another roadway. There is a red light at the intersection before/just as the road turns slightly.

A lot of times when I stop there people are beeping at me to go through it. I don`t think it was meant to be that way. Does anyone know what the rules are for this?

There is no "No Turn On Red" sign.
 
OK just to clarify. There is NOT a sign that says "No Turn On Red"

But also it`s not a perfect + intersecion.

Oh, shit. I misread that. My bad.
Those kinds of intersections, I believe you're allowed to go on that little right turn deal, when there is a red light.

So YOU and FROMZERO are the damn guys beeping at me??? lol It`s not a 90 degree right turn, It just veers off. Why put a light there if you can go either way?

I drew a pic of it. I saved it to documents I just have to figure out how to get it here. lol
 
"Right on Red" is exactly the same as a stop sign. If you blow through it without stopping, it's the same points as running a stop sign.

You pull out in front of somebody without stopping, you have a red light and they don't -- it's your ass.

Beepy boy behind you wants to pay $12,000/year for his insurance for the next decade, that's HIS problem.
 
Fuck yeah -- I beep at people ESPECIALLY when there IS a No Turn On Red sign just to fuck with them and see if they will break the law at my behest

gonelifting - you live in jersey, the roads are horrible. the intersections make NO sense. i am a firm believe that 3/4 of the drivers in jersey don't know how to drive ;)

i'm from PA, it's manditory that i bash jersey drivers and jersey roadways :)

Actually I DID change that bulb like you told me. I don`t need to shave my arms anymore. Don`t ask.

Dude, I thin you know who I am. I used to install traffic lights sometimes. We put up everything from the poles to the lights/ wired it all, Even the walk/don`t walk signs.
 
In that right lane there`s a red light staring you in the face. It`s not really a right turn, It`s a single lane at that point. Is it legal? I`m sick of the beeping behind me. I never go btw. My wife des and we fight about it all the time. lol

Well the drawring obfuscated everything.

But it there's a little ramp type thing to turn, you're fine. Like a littel triangle island separating the path to turn right from the corner of the intersection.
 
I`m gonna take a pic one day and show you guys. damn it!!!

right on red is legal in Texas unless "NO TURN ON RED" is posted. So if I understand question: you may turn right on red after you have stopped. If the red light is for the lane which continues straight then you may have the right of way and have no need to stop.

Your wife could be right on this.

what didn't he believe? that 3/4 of all jersey drivers don't know what they are doing? that all the roads and intersections in jersey are screwed up? or that it's manditory for me to bash jersey drivers?

It`s a relatively new intersection and traffic light so It may not be on the satellite pics. Terraserver?? or whatever. I used to look at my house from sat pics. It was cool. lol
 
Dude- Stop at the light, Look around-

If you see a cop, don't go...

If you don't, who gives a flying f***, just go...

Unlesss of course you live in Arizona and every intersection has a camera....

PS-And next time the guy behind you honks at you- get out of the car and stare at him... start yelling "Are you f***ing CRAZY man, see the size of my arms? I will f***ing CRUSH you!"

(my buddy did it once- it was hilarious)

To me it sounds like a merging lane onto a perpendicular road, no?

You can turn right on red AFTER you stop. Same goes with a stop sign (in most states that is).

Let me ask this....if the redlight is directly in front of you, then you turn right, is there a short lane for merging? Even if it's 60 feet or so, then I'd say it's more of a yielding situation.
