Is this a romantic Valentines gift idea?

So the gf is working until 3AM tonight. She had mentioned a few times how she would love to clean all of her hard wood floors (entire first floor is hardwood). Since I was recently given a key to her place I thought I would use it to get into her place and Murphy Oil soap all of her hardwood flooring as a surprise. it doesn't really sound romantic to me though. I have a good feeling she would melt over it though.

thoughts?

I dont know if that counts as romantic, but I'm sure she will love you for it. Go for it!

soooooooooo?? what are you going to do later??

why not just send a simple flower, and light a candle.. maybe a shower for you before she gets there..

or make a certificate for you to pay a contractor to come in and condition the floors for her.. now that's a gift...

What am i going to do later, meaning I don't want to blow my load all in one gift?

Not to worry, i have a mental Rolodex of romantic shit, this is but a drop in the ocean bro.

to me personally, there is little more romantic than knowing he's listening. You doing her floors will tell her you pay attention, that you care about hr petty needs. It's a fantastic idea.

If I were you I would save it. It's a great idea and Nef's response probably mimics the way most people feel. However it's not romantic. - You're doing it because it's V day, not because you want to show you care and are thinking about her, or whatever. I think you would be better off doing it in say, 2 weeks for no reason at all. I think that would be much more meaningful, and would be a more successful at making her realize how much you actually do care.

Is this not very soon for keys?
It's been less than a month, right?
Crap, was I supposed to be handing out keys all this time?

Yes, most would consider so. This relationship however is moving in light speed, simply because it feels comfortable doing so. the reason for the keys is that she works crazy hours and always wants to crawl into bed with me when she gets off, and she doesn't like that i have to leave my door unlocked so she can get in without waking me up. She gave me her key because i go over there to do laundry, she does live only 2 blocks away as well.

She just called me from work and says it's slow tonight so she'll be getting off early. it looks as though i won't be having time to do it tonight anyways. It is a good thing I had the back-ups in place though it looks like.

this one sounds like a "keeper", PD....

BUT

there is a thin line between being agressively affectionate and smothering the hell outta her....... :worried:

shit. . .it's perfect. . .it costs next to nothing, it requires a fair amount of effort, it proves that you are listening when she's talking. . .i could go on and on, but you get the picture. . .you really wanna top it off?? put something together that you can throw in the oven while you're working so you have something to eat after she gets done banging your brains out. . .

This is true, however it is her that does most of the smothering, I am merely trying to keep up.

digi, great idea. I cook for her all the time, but a nice roast is always a deal sealer :D
