Is this a myth or not (about first cycle)

I was told in the gym today, that a first cycle of test (they didn't specify which one; Would do more than just build mass, but it would also cut.

The story goes, this guys took a 500mg/wk test cycle at about 20% BF, and ended his cycle at 8%BF and put on 20 pounds of lbm.

Does this sound legit, because if not, I really want to call this guy out on it. He reminds me of Gilad from those old ESPN morning workouts.

it can happen, but whether it is a first cycle or not has little to do with it, although someone doing their first cycle is likely to have fairly drastic body changes compared to people on their nth cycle.

i get the feeling though, that those stats etc were before he crashed, and include all his fluid gains as 'lbm'

i started a thread/poll asking simething like this in this forum. look for it and you will get to see the first cycle results of about 30 guys

cheers

I think some pretty impressive things can happen on your first cycle especially if you are young and you haven't actually filled out on your own.

When I was 18-20 years old, I only weighted in around 150. If I would have have taken 500mg/wk test + ate like a horse and trained hard, it might have been possible for me to see 20lbs of LBM.

But later in life you add LBM naturally and through weight training. To add 20 pounds in one cycle becomes much harder if not impossible.

To add 20 pounds of LBM and lose any significant amount of weight is not possible in my opinion. So, myth as far as I am concerned.

It might be possible to gain 20lbs while on cycle and actually lose some weight. But a big portion of the 20lbs gained would be water that would be shed at the end of the cycle. Leaving you with a small LBM gain + some weight loss.

I call bullshit also,,, 20lbs is a nice gain for a years worth of work

im glad someone put this post up. a girl im dating told me that the boy next to her in class informed her thet he had put on a nice 30 pounds of muscle since he started school in september, juice free. i told her the guy was an idiot and that was pretty near impossible. im gonna slap this kid.
p.s. im on week one of a sust cycle and weigh 225 14% i would love to get down to about 10% while keeping some of my size.. with the proper diet is that reasonable?

It all comes down to diet IMO. AAS can either help you reach an anabolic state and stay in a positive nitrogen balance to hasten muscle hypertrophy (growth)... or if used to "cut", they help prevent cortisol levels from building during dieting and keep you in an anti-catabolic state, meaning you are not losing muscle nearly as much as fat. Keeping this in mind, steroids are just a tool to help you acheive your goals, but only AFTER your diet and training are on par with what your goals are. I don't know how many times this can be reiterated, but I hope this helps a bit.

yeah amactruck it is possible, but as NH stated, diet and training, as well as good pct will play a huge role. depends on a lot of stuff, and you mightnt gain THAT much lbm, but yeah, you can get close

i have no problem with training but the diet is hard to stick to. i have no problem eating healthy but im a student so the $$ is a little low. i also noticed that my appetite has imcreased significantly. is that just because im training harder? any tips on eating right on a tight budget would really help.. i mean im buying 'outside round' steaks just to get the protein into me. i eat tuna and salmon all the time.. thanks guys!

He told me he weighed about 200 lbs @ 20%, and ended at 8% and 196.

I didn't ask him how his diet was, because I didn't want to act like I was paying attention to him, because I know he is full of shit.

Just from what I've read on here, I thought it was not true, but the fact that it was his first cycle, and that he didn't seem to have much lbm on a rather large frame (160lb) - threw me off, and made me wonder.

*edit: by the way, he is as tall as me, or maybe an inch taller 6' or 6' 1''

No one would disagree that diet is the key to success .
surprising enough but i just had someone tell me my 2 cents were worthless when i told them diet was the main factor in working out and without a good diet you will not see the best gains

I stick with my assertion that it is impossible to gain 20lb of LBM while at the same losing any significant weight. When he says cycle, I assume that this means a 8-12 week period which is standard.

If his "cycle" went on for 12 months, then it could be possible.

here is a quick way to realize how much 20lbs of lean mass actually is. Go to your local grocery market and look at what a lb of lean steak looks like. Then ask yourself did my buddy really add that much muscle.

some people claim to lose bf and gain mass at the same time, but I've run 4 times that much test and never dropped any bf while mass building, only gained size
