is there a REAL difference between the west coast & east coast?

I'm going to be traveling up and down the west coast for business and since I'm gonna be there for a while I'd like to know what i can expect. I keep hearing about the west coast mentality but I want to find out if it's true. Are there differences in mentality, style, etc?

East Coast rap is more real to the streets.

yes there is.

west coasters are waaaay more laid back people and the whole sense of the places is way different. i honestly feel more at home on the east coast personally. there also seems to be more culture on the east coast.

however, i'm basing this mostly on my experience in LA vs. boston/nyc

but on the whole, TOTALLY different i think.

Depends on your lifestyle. I have lived on the East coast most of my life, but have spent extensive time out West. NoCa to Seattle is VERY liberal-tree hugging. LA is plasticine, kinda phony. San Diego is great - mostly conservative and the weather is great. Have fun.

PS - West Coasters are very shocked by East Coast cynicism!

I'll be in LA, SF and seattle, so I'll probably get to run the whole gamut of west coast attitude.
