Is the city THE best place for young singles to live?

Different strokes for different folks. Changing location is not a problem fixer. If you're an introvert you'll find being in the city to be the loneliest place on earth. Rent in cities is rarely cheap. I recommend, until you are really financially stabalized, fiding a place within half an hour of a city. You have access to all the same things without the financial burden. I'm not sure where on earth you got the idea that it was cheap, unless you were thinking of living in projects.

If youre still living with your parents it doesnt fucking matter. Certain cities are really good and not that expensive, like my city Houston. Yes I would say cities in general are better places for young single people as there is more options, more people, more opportunities in general.

I'm thinking about moving out but the question is "where".

Currently I'm in the burbs, but the advantage is that I work in the burbs so I'm 3 miles from work.

I'm 9 miles from the city right now. I bike into there on weekends to do stuff.

I've heard that for young people who've graduated college, single, don't have a family, and are looking for a place to live within a metropolitan area, the city is the best option. I figure some of the reasons probably are: cheap rent, close to a job (if you work downtown), lots of entertainment nearby (restaurants, shopping areas, bars, etc), lots of people to meet within a small radius, and the list goes on.

What are your thoughts EF?
I do notice that sometimes suburbs can become more populated with families and older people. However, in the city it almost seems like everyone is a stranger because there are sooo many people.

What's the difference - if u go to a big city danceclub, and it's tons of guys and a few hot girls hanging with the guys. How do you benefit?

If you got game, good wingmen, and a hot chick female friend to come with you -- you can get women anywhere. There's no club where you walk in, and it's tons of hot chicks all alone by themselves, waiting for guys to hit on them. That's called any club outside the us

btw: college clubs ftw. Pick clubs with better ratio of hot chicks to guys to get u going.

I am not thinking of living downtown, but rather in the northern or southern part of the city, where I hear rent is pretty cheap.

I am an introvert, so maybe the city would be a little lonely, but I excel at meeting people online. One of the burdens with hanging out with people online though is location, it takes too long to get out there and meet them. Sometimes a 45 minute drive is common to hangout with someone in another suburb. I dont drive, I bike, so that means it would take hours to meet them. In the city you are in the center of everything. Right now I am 9 miles from the city, so if I have to bike 9 miles, plus 9 more to get to the suburb an equal distance away on the other side, thats 18 miles, which is a long ride. People don't even like to drive 18 miles to hangout with someone regularly, much less bike that far.

warm year round, not too much rain, but still a few nice parks speckled here and there throughout the city

In the city there are more clubs than in the suburbs. That's how you benefit when in the city

Dinkytown has got lots of college chicks. I wonder if they'd think a 24 yr old guy like me is too old though. I've had bad luck with those younger women ditching me cuz I was too old for them. A 19 yr old girl told me I was too old the other day (after she kissed me)
