Is my Pshychiatrist on drugs?

I went to her last week and explained to her that I was coming off of a cycle and I needed some anti depressants to help my mood and she writes me a prescription for Metoprolol : http://www.drugs.com/metoprolol.html

After reading the description I have no idea how this drug would benefit me. I dont even remember her talking about giving me this. Crazy Russian doctor. Anyone know of any other uses of this drug aside from heart problems or blood pressure? Only thing I can think of why she gave it to me is if I had high blood pressure which she did not even check.

i know what that drug is... are you sure you read it correctly of the perscription... sometimes a doctrs handwriting leave something to be desired.

I actually had the prescription filled and thats what it was. She really has to lay off the valiums, those thigs fry youre brain.

I go to a great shrink, and mildly she is nuts, so why this chick gave you what ever that stuff is, I don't know, if you are depressed, Prozac is the only thing that works for me.

Did you say you experience anxiety and/or racing heart (or panic attacks) when you get off?
Because beta blockers are used for controlling things like stage-fright and other anxiety symptoms.It's an off-label use but psychiatrists often prescribe them for that.
