Is Kerry's speech on Stem Cell research...

Becoming said:
I don't really have a problem with using cells that would be destroyed (like left overs from artificial fertilizations, etc.... if they have a valid and therapy developed and can say - we can use these 2 "going to be wasted" embryos to repair this guys broken back.....

BUT - the fundamental problems with applying the technology that still need to be worked out, CAN be worked out just as well with cell lines... it has nothing to do with the types of cells and EVERYTHING to do with the experiemental protocols/models and not knowing all the contributing factors involved....

it has been made out to be such an issue that they "MUST have access to new cells" to make it work that it is totally such a farce at this point it is ridiculous...
current cell lines arent sufficient. come on now. i may be the only other person here that knows what a ''cell line'' is but still. thats crap.

Whats sad man is that it was such a just comprimise to the debate.

Essentially the President said we will allow, and even fund, research involving stem cells already harvested prior to a certain date.

What we will not do is encourage more humans to be conceived for the sole purpose of harvesting their cells, and will not finacially reward those who do so.

But apparently Kerry has no issue with killing humans provided someone else may at some future point gain advantage from their death

Speaking of allowing emotion to enter the debate.

Which part was emotional?

Talk about knee jerk

Wasn't it you who simplisticaly claimed this was nothing more than a matter of Bush allowing his religious beliefs to guide public policy?

As if only the "religious" have an opinion on the harvesting of human beings.

Emotional hyperbole. Just what you constantly harp on everyone who opposes your positions for.

No Blue

It was sarcasm intended to illustrate the vacousness of statements by you and others earlier in the discussion.

As I stated repeatedly, there is more to this issue than simply being for or against curing disease.

You took the inane position that Bush was simply being a religious fanatic (implied) in oppising federal funds for this type of research. In contrast then I offered the comment sarcastically that Kerry's willingness to fund such work must mean he has no qualms against harvesting humans.

The essential point is that the debate is far more complex than whatever limited understanding any of you in opposition previously demonstrated

Thanks Dad.

I wonder how much the price of human fetuses will be for research ?

Funny. Did you notice no one said a word about your post? I guess this how most of the people here think about killing unborn babies to help keep older people that have got to live some of life alive. Not worth even a word. Our society has truly became sick, demented, cold and immoral. Like I said wouldn't make more sense to do stem cell research on welfare receipiants that way we solve two problems that plague society at once.
