While it is possible, water poisoning/intoxication is very very rare. Obviously you shouldn't down a gallon of water, but a normal person can consume alot of water (2 gals) no problem. Most people don't drink enough. In fact most nutritionists think people should consume about 8 cups (=1 gal) a day. Athletes should shoot for more. The clear piss test is right on. If you piss clear you are taking in a good amount. I try to drink more than a gallon a day. Depending on the heat and if you will be working out in it, you should increase intake.
