Is it too soon???

I am feeling so much better! I honestly think I only had a slight case of mono or else the doc diagnosed me wrong. I feel fine, now...and I'm ready to get back into the gym.

What do you all think? Is it too soon to start back again after being sick as a dog for a week or should I hold off for another week (I REALLY don't know if I could do that or not). I could just start back slowly...but I want some second opinions about this. :)

This may not be what you want to hear but;

Only you know your own body. In the past, after an illness, what happened? Were you able to bounce back and jump back into training? I think you could find your answer there!

If it's mono, take it real easy. Did you not have a blood test to confirm it? If not, go and have one. Doctors can tell from your blood count whether you are getting over it or not.

I just came off a very bad bout of it and kept me out of thre gym for 3 months. If you go back to soon, you can expect problems, if in fact you have mono.
 
give it a week more and then when you go back work out one day and give yourself two days to rest and repeat if you start to feel sick again lay off. If yoy aren't sick and feel okay then boost the intesity and frequency. Take it easy. 1-2 weeks or 1-2 months hmmmmm........ good luck

OK that said. Take a few extra days off. No need to relapse.

Thank you all for your advice. I think I may just wait a few more days to see how I feel.

Vinylgroover...I did have a blood test to confirm that I had it, but I think I only had a slight case of it. You know how when they test for strep it can be sort of positive and fully positive? Kind of like that.

B...I don't know your opinion on it...so please tell me.

Look at it this way. Your body is like a battery. Every time that you train it, push it, or use it...it runs down a bit. You need a lot more time to rest it after you are done in order for it to recharge a bit (sleep/rest).

I know you, like you know me. Probably better than anyone else on the planet. We are VERY MUCH ALIKE...and hard headed...and stubborn as mules...and sexy.

Your schedule is super hectic. Do I need to explain that too? You are a Senior Nursing student who is working her tail off, studying, working, as well as many other things going on in your life. That should be enough for you to try and recover from it itself. Add lifting/training on top of everything else...and you are going to be run down even more.

I nearly died from this and it scares me VERY much. I cried when you told me that you had mono it scares me so badly. I know what it can devlop into. After 7 days I was back in the gym too...a couple weeks later I was back in bed and in the hospital. Your body is not recharged yet...not fully anyway. It is time to be SMART about this in the gym and throughout the rest of your life right now.

Start using that stuff that I sent you also. It DOES work.
Off days: 2 Tabs of Thymuplex, 2 grams of Vit C over 2-4 doses
Training days: 4 Tabs of Thymuplex, 3-4 grams of Vit C over 3-6 doses

I've had a simple head/chest cold for about a week and a half now. Its been bad enough to keep me from training. I felt great Sunday, so I decided to train today(monday). I ate great all day and felt really good all the way to the gym. Once I started lifting(warming up)I knew it was a bad idea. I only spent about 30 minutes doing super light weight, the went home at 3:00. Its now 1:15 in the morning, and I can't sleep because I feel like crap and can't breath. I probably only had to wait 2 or 3 more days, but now I probably have another week.:mad:

I just have a virus. Think about it. Take care of yourself, and take some time off. Besides, you're going to give poor b-fold an ulcer.:)
