Uhhh. I respect her too but not for being a single mom. There a lots of single moms. What did you expect her to do? Give the baby up for adoption? Does she get respect for not doing that? So basically women get respect for getting pregnant (sometimes accidentally) and then not giving their baby up for adoption or having an abortion? Respect comes easy for some people.

I don't get much free time. I'm carrying him in a little baby sling right now, as a matter of fact. I've never existed on less sleep in my life except finals week in law school...lol.

I love it, though. =-)

I did most of the rearing of my daughter. It was hard, even though I suffered post partal depression, it was probably the best times of my life.

WTF?

I could NOT do the "mom" job AND work full time without the help of a husband. I'd admit defeat for sure.

I have mad respect for all these single mom's doing it ALL by themselves. Not an easy job.

Don't yo uhave laundry to do or something?

Oh yeah, and he pooped on me today -- yellow, seedy breast milk poopy all down the front of my shirt!

not only am I fat now, but I smell most of the time too!

:lmao:

Stinks doesn't it? I was surprised to learn how much a newborn baby's shit stinks. I thought only old people's crap stunk that bad.

I've been clipping coupons and finding other ways to save money. I've got a sink full of dishes and I have to empty the dishwasher. No Starbucks coffee this morning (this is morning for me) that stuff is too strong.

You can't be THAT dumb to not figure out that I was just joking. But, men doing the child rearing can get depressed just like women do. It's an enormous responsibility and a big change.

Hey Bro, you ever really been to the store in Luckenback or do you just have that on your profile? just wondering...
spent many a day and night there, throwin' washers getin' just F'd up as hell. Last time I was there I actually went in a suit and tie, was working over in Fredricksburg and didn't intend to stay long. The people in there looked like they'd just seen a ghost or something. They figured that I was FBI, CIA or something I found out later. I'd had a few Lone Stars and my plans chamged. I had a bottle of Tequila in the car and went and got that. I saw a guy with a big fatty of hill country homegrown out by the car and ask for a hit. After that, I really don't remember much. I guy came in and played the guitar and we all were singin at the top of our lungs. I woke up sometime in the night and went back to the hotel, minus a tie and coat. LOL

He's happy except today was the first time he got a bath in his baby froggy tub. He HATED that. He cried so hard that he would hold his breath for a few seconds. Needless to say, I made bathtime SHORT. Up until today he only got sponge baths because his umbilical cord was still attached.

been meaning to ask ya... when Lefty was born, do they shave you bald down on your "CHA CHA"? I was wondering of the Doc got a good look at Nevada or you had the landing strip straight by then. I can hear him now, "I seen bald, strips and hearts, but this is the first time a woman has ever shaved Nevada!" LMAO

I had been shaving myself completely for a couple of months b/c I couldn't see to shave and leave just a landing strip. So, he didn't have to shave me.

According to my mother, dad always got up and took care of me in the middle of the night. Apparently, reading a book to me put me back in the zone...... :)

I disagree. I think they can. When My son was born I was depressed for a little while. It was a very hard transition for me. I love it now, but the first few months was VERY hard.

With all due respect it is not the same thing. Post partum depression is due to HORMONES, something that the mother has ZERO control over. True, the couple's life changes in a hyuge way and for the most part - IT SUCKS ASS and neither of them really expected it to be so miserable (because regardless of how happy you are - IT IS FUCKING MISERABLE in the beginning). So, of course, the father takes a hit too...

But to compare that to a physical condition, just isn't the same. Women truly become *nuts* and if it is untreated can literally ruin the entire family's life... that is NO JOKE. Post partum psychosis (which is far more severe) could result in the mother actually taking her own life or killng the baby.

Men need to recognize that though their lives take a HYUGE hit - not diminishing that in any way - it can not BEGIN to compare to how much the mother's life body/mind... her entire existance is fucked with in ways that a man just can not understand. It isn't *all in her head*, it is her ENTIRE BEING that is forever changed. Even women who've not been mothers can not truly understand. The only thing I can equate it to (and maybe it is a BAD analogy) is for someone of either gender who has a real physical illness - like schizophrenia for example, trying to explain what it is like to be them to someone who does not have that disorder.

Post partem depression extends far beyond being upset at thinking, "MY GOD - how could I have possibly ASKED to fuck my world like this... WHAT WAS I THINKING?" It is a physical disorder that could seriously damage the entire family if it goes untreated if it is severe and lasting enough. It is my understanding that MOST post partum depression takes care of itself as the woman's hormonal levels stabilize within 6 weeks after giving birth.

i dont really believe in that bullshit in the first place.

Dude, it isn't bullshit. It is caused by a hormonal imbalance brought on by the aftermath of pregnancy.

The bullshit is the men trying to say they got it too.... :)

Did you know that there are laws on the books in MOST industrialized nations (that is excluding the all-mighty US) that if a woman kills her own child within (I believe it is 6 months to a year) of giving birth she can NOT be charged with murder. Interesting how the rest of *the backwards* world recognizes the very real and very serious reality of POST PARTUM PSYCHOSIS (which is a far more severe form of POST PARTUM DEPRESSION) but the United States is still *poo-poo-ing* it. More entertaining is THE MEN here trying to say that *they got it too*.

Sorry boys, ya'll aint got a uterus, nor did you carry or give birth. You ain't the mother, nor will you EVER be.

That isn't to say that all women who gave birth to and carried a child DESERVE the PRIVILIGE to mother. Just saying that you guys can't BEGIN to fathom what a woman goes through.

WE NEED GOOD FATHERS and YOUR ROLE IS NOT DIMINISHED OR REPLACED but please do not EVER insult a mother by thinking you know what it is like.

That is all I am saying. Nothing more and nothing less.

Ok so what you're saying is that men dont go through anything after the birth of their child...........only the woman does...........how do you know this. I love how some women act like they go through much more than what a man goes through when it comes to certain things. You're right, men dont have the hormonal imbalance that a woman goes through after giving birth.....of course not, but for you to say that a man dosent get post partum depression is nonsense. Its DEPRESSION no matter how you look at it, whether its due to giving birth or due to the life altering change that throws you into a depression. No matter what words you put in front of it, its still depression.

if you would have gotten depressed, it would have been the day she told you that she was pregnant. Can't really see not having worked through it mentally by 9 months later. Yes, depression is depression, you got that right. it's just the timing that I was alluding to...

I never negated that men go through unpleasant adjustments as well. All I said was that the two can not be compared.

Being depressed about the fact that your wife is not in control of her changing body, you get waaaaay less sex and less sleep, waaaaay more pressure and responsiblity, NO FUN and that you have a noisy smelly monster (LOL) on top of all that is not the same thing as Post Partum Depression. The woman has to deal with all that too - in ADDITION TO Post Partum depression.

That is all I said. Nothing more and nothing less. :)
