Is deadlifts a part of your routine?

I used to do heavy deads around 600+ every other week and do heavy squats on the other weeks. Now i just do the squats, I think they are more beneficial. If i want to mix things up I will do a moderate weight set then do some reps 405x20 to get the blood pumping.

I do stiff leg deads. They're my favorite hamstring exercise, but, I feel like I'm getting a great lower back workout also. I do them on leg day, but, I space my back and leg workouts apart enough so they don't conflict. I do back on Monday, legs friday.

in my honest opinion deds are very beneficial to both men and women in overall body symmetry as well as strength. altho u must start small and work your way up.

Why would they not be...that is like asking why would you squat...but, i train for strength only...maybe you dont need them to look pretty...but, i will always include them, and i do them at the beginning of my back routine....

Deadlifts done properly is a great back workout. I do them once a week, always heavy @ 455 x 10-12 for 4 sets. Never affects my hips, just the back.

Nope. It doesn't matter how I do them, my back hurts like hell the next day. And not muscle soreness but my spine. I keep my back straight and the bar close to my knees like you're supposed to. Not worth the risk of injuring my back

Like squats, deads are a must for overall strength and growth, its one of the toughest and exhausting compound excersices but man you cant beat stiffs for your hams.

Peace,
WCP

If you're seriously committed to getting big and strong, then Deadlifts are a MUST!!! Take a picture of yourself now, then add them to your routine for the next 6 months. I guarantee you won't regret it and be AMAZED!!!!

Ditto.

I work out at a twinky gym now. I'm the only guy there who does deads. I'm also the only guy there with any muscle mass.

I used to train at Gold's Venice. They have the most dedicated deadlifting community there I've ever seen. All the big boys do deads... women too.

Deadlifts are a must imo I train em every week on a pyrmaid scale 12*400 6-8*440 and then 4-6*480 normally add a fourth set called a challenge set pick a weight normally around 350 and rep out as many as u can until failure(good cardio workout)

I normally do 5x5 once a week either with back or legs. sucks doing them, but great for building mass.

YES I added from the floor deads back into my routine several months ago and it has made a tremendous difference. For me, the one back exercise that really gets the deep tissue and shit I just feel good from them, like nothing else. Plus the overall effects - legs, hips, traps, grip, etc ... A MUST LIFT

Kinda hard not to deadlift when you're a powerlifter, lol. I also do pulls out of the power-rack. They're great for upperback and traps.

deads are fuckin awsome..if you wanna get big they say you have to squat big and deadlift big......i love the pump and the light head feeling you get is great

DEADS are fuckin great...the pump is unreal and i start my back routine with 2 warmup sets and 5 work sets i love them and cant get enough

Yea I do em...but I almost never see anyone else in my gym do them.
I don't know how many of you read flex but they had a good article about deads this month's issue.
Dorian and Ronnie do them...how can you argue with 2 of the best backs ever.

If you think about it, all of the great ones deadlifted: Arnold, Franco, Dorian, Ronnie. Bottom line is IT WORKS! I've gotten thicker since I incorporated them into my workouts. If you want the thick, dense muscle, deads are the only way to go.
