Iron Master Dumbells

Anyone use them? I'm either buying these Iron Master Dumbells or the PowerBlock dumbells. They are both the same price for the 120lb set. I think the Iron master ones look a little sturdier and they say you can drop them. Please give me your opinions.
Thanks

My house is being built now and the basement is already poured. The floor looks pretty level to my eye :) I will eventually have a rubber floor under the squat rack, dumbell area and I'll probably build a deadlift platform (could use that for the dumbell area too for now.)

Has anyone used or seen these in person? They look more traditional than the Powerblocks that I was going to buy today.

They look like a waste of money to me.

They are no better than a cheap set of spin-locks. All weight changes are done manually. (Unscrew, add/remove plates, re-screw...) Same as spin-locks.

The Powerblock DB set offers the quick change benefit. However, they are way to expensive for my taste.

Could you explain what it is about the Iron Master set that intriques you to buy them?

I'm forced to agree with Mr. Elite Mentor Bigshot here. Weight is weight. I don't see any reason to spend a bunch of money.

Well here's the truth. I got my annual bonus the other day and I plan on spending it on furnishing my home gym. I already know what squat rack, flat/incline bench and dip station I want. I can't afford to get the lat pulldown/low row that I want so that will have to wait till next year but I was thinking that I need a set of dumbells. I use dumbells along with barbells for chest, shoulder and biceps. I need a set from like 40lbs up to 120lbs. When I went to price the dumbells out the Powerblock or Ironmaster was the best deal (at this point I hadn't even considered the spin lock b/c I wasn't planning on having any standard plates and I didn't think they could hold over 70lbs or so.)

I have done some research today and found out that the 14" spinlock dumbells can hold 80lbs each while the 16" ones can hold 120lb. So If I get 24 of the 10lb plates at $5 each (sports Authority) and 4 of the 5lb plates and 4 of the 2 1/2lb plates I can get the equivilent of the 120lb set for under $320.

This is what I have decided to do. Now the hard part is to find local store and clean out all their 10lb standard plates. I already called around and the most I have found at one store is 5 plates (why would they end up with an odd # of plates is beyone me???). I'll probably by them as I see them.

Thanks for everyones input.
