Im upgrade eligible for the new phone for only $18.
Ive only got a 3G old clunker so Im seriously considering. My issue is being an early adopter having to deal with all the glitches of a totally redesigned iphone.

Anyone got any educated opinions on iphone 4?

You cant upgrade for $18. thats your fee to upgrade and renew your contract, the phone will cost you $299 on an upgrade. ATT blows and the iphone is for trendy bishes.

Im about to upgrade to the 3GS. HAd my 1st gen iphone for 2 years or so now. At $90 I may as well.

adapting from a G3 to a G4 won't be a big adaption, all apple products (iphone, itouch, ipod, nano) same layout year in year out. The itouch and ipod are the easiest and most effective mp3 player ever. I've had the same 1gen 32gig Video ipod, run that bitch 2hrs+ a day for 5yrs now. Pissed on it, dropped it in the toilet, mud, it is still flawless. Combined in 5yrs, I've spent more money every few months getting new $25 earbud headphones than it cost for my ipod total ($350). True Story

I bought those slick Dre Beats earbuds too, they sounded great, trashed in 5 months ($150)

I'll likely get it a month or so after release. Only cause I'm a trendy bitch though.

No Doofus, $18 is the fee for getting iOS4 onto the original iPhone 3G. If you have a 3GS the OS upgrade is free. If you want the new iPhone itself it is also free *IF* you sign a new two year contract.

Thats what I thought. I might make the move then. Whats your supreme techhead input, DT?

Only way im getting it is if its a much faster device in general and has better reception and/or connectivity

Apple has supposedly "addressed" both of those issues. They have some different metal for the antenna, which is supposed to help w/dropped calls. It is significantly faster and is now able to "multi-task" between apps now (which droid has been able to do). btw...I think its $199 (16Gig)/$299 (32Gig).

LMAO at upgrading the OP SYSTEM but not the hardware. The actual phone is $299 on a 2 year upgrade. LMAO @ Charging for an op system upgrade when every other phone allows it free.

Get pwnt by horrible ATT prices, service, and apparently upgrade scams...I worked for them for 4 years, but I guess they have gotten even worse than back then.

Wrong. I just called apple and spoke to a live body and they said with a 2 year upgrade all I pay is $18 and walk out the store with a new iphone 4. I was very specific about that when asking them on the phone.

LOL I just found out why! I just called my buddy at ATT corporate, he said they just increased their early termination fees from $175 to $325, so they are hoping by offering current iphone customers special limited time discounted pricing that it will help them not scare people off with the Term fee change. LOLOLOLOLOL Get raped into another 2 yr contract with a $325 risk if you term early, lmao, have fun!

From ATT:

"For those of you on AT&T who have an upgrade before the end of 2010, then you will be pleased to know that you are eligible for an early upgrade to the new iPhone 4. The price you pay will be $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB version"

I dont know what else to tell you bor. Call your nearest apple store and see what they say. They told me 18 bucks and a new 2 year contract and I walk out the door with a new iphone 4.

Well, I have no idea how they are going to give you a "$600" free when the carrier won't even do that, but hey if you can get it free, go ahead. Have fun with that $325 ETF fee that started on the 1st of this month. Talk about Rape!

Ive managed to put up with ATT for a year and if i get a new iphone free by just tacking on another year then BFD. The ETF raping is irrelevant if I dont plan to break it. It can only improve from here anyway with this new phone.

Yeah, like I said, Make sure they aren't just charging you the upgrade fee and then billing you the cost, because ATT corporate has no idea of this from Apple unless it's special promo pricing that hasnt been released to the public, according to someone at their corporate offices. That means that ATT or APPLE is covering the $600 phone and eating the cost...

Like I said, if you can get it fee with no issues obviously go for it.

Dude he has the power of The Jacket. He gets it for $18 because of the awesome jacket.
