I thought that this would be a good way for everyone to get to know each other here. Feel free to post a little bit about yourself, your goals, hobbies, what ever makes you, the person you are. Post as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

This goes for the vets as well as the new folks.

I'm 43 years old and I workout for the overall health benefits, instead of gaining size. I have been around gyms of one type or another almost my entire adult life. I enjoy being out in the woods, hiking and such, so it is important to stay fit. I have been on a couple kayaking trips down local rivers and really enjoy them. My next big fitness expense will be to get a sea kayak. I have always wanted to paddle the coastline here in SC. My hobbies outside of fitness are my dogs, and motorcycles. :D

Well I'm 20 years old and trained on and off for about 5 years. I was born in Mexico and moved to the US bout 17 yrs ago. Since around October of last year I set a goal to reach at least 200lbs by Summer, which I am getting at, and maybe surpassing it (I think i got good genes). I'm an artist, draw, paint, create, destroy etc. I am also a web designer by trade. I have to say that one of my weak points are Hostess products (twinkies and such) and beer.

I'm 36 years old....6'2" and currently between 245lb and 250lb...I've always been heavy but not (really) fat....I'd like to drop about another 10-15 pounds of bodyfat but I don't like aerobics. I've been married for 14 years and have two kids (3.5 girl and 1 yo boy)...they are my meaning here on earth and when I'm not working out, I usually wrestling/playing with them. I work at night in IT for a warehouse/distribution center for a large drug store chain. I also have two yellow labradors.

I'm currently more into fitness than BB per say....but I'm always looking to get stronger and more cut...(aren't we all?)....My PR's for Bench is 275x4, squat 315x3 and DL 315x3...I don't do drugs, smoke or drink...(I am a devout Christian). I supplement with ON Protein and am getting ready to experiment a bit with creatine and ALA. With my size, I can imagine what would happen if I hit the sauce....

Outside of lifting, I play pick-up basketball and hike the Grand Canyon and Peak bag all over Arizona...

This is a great board and I've already gained much from my short time here....

Peace to all....be safe (and patient) in the GYM.....

24 yo. about to finish grad school in 2 weeks. I am in the sports marketing/event management business.

started really getting into the iron game in May of 03. Unfortunately, I hurt my rotator cuff in June and haven't been able to work out 100% since. I have tried everything and am going to a specialist Thursday to find out what the hell is up.

Been a member of EF since March 03 and it has single-handedly changed my perspectives on lifting and made BBing my passions and life's blood.

24yo, been into sports and fitness my whole life. The only thing i have ever stuck with is lifting weights!! I just love to be at the gym. When not doing that im usually studying (chiropractic student) or just hanging with my woman!! My goals for now are to start cutting a bit, ive always been pretty lean, but this most recent bulking took a toll on my fat stores. BTW im all natural and always will be

Hey everyone...I've been away from Elite for a while...but now I'm back...doubt anyone over on this board remembers me...I'm usually on the anabolic board.

Right now I'm on the verge of graduating college with a BS in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Also working as a personal trainer. When I'm done here, I'll probably go on to graduate school for physical therapy (DPT or MSPT). And then I hope to use those credentials to get a job as a strength and conditioning coach (I just passed the CSCS exam) at the collegiate or professional level...and if i can't get a job that satisfies me...I'll fall back on physical therapy and open my own gym.

If anyone has any questions about training, nutrition, strength and conditioning, steroids, etc...feel free to shoot me an email...I must say I have alot of knowledge in all those areas, and can probably help you out...but if i don't know...I'm sure I can find your answers for you. I have access to pretty much any journal out there, and am always willing to help people out when they have questions.

Anyways, good to be back at elite...and to anyone who knows me...drop a line sometime. For everyone else, I'll see ya on the boards.

Happy Training...

I'm 24 years old, I've been training since I was in 8th grade. I'm 5'11" and weigh 260. I train primarily for strength, power, and size. I usually follow a Bill Starr- style program with a lot of Olympic movements and heavy, basic lifts. My goals right now are just to make progress in terms of strength and lean body mass, I want to improve all of my gym lifts, plus I wouldn't mind adding 10-15 lbs over the next several years with no change in bodyfat.

I am pretty athletic, I played football at both the high school and college levels. I played D tackle and fullback in high school, came to college as a 225lb fullback and wound up a 265lb nose tackle my Sr. year thanks to Bill Starr-style programs and a lot of eating.

I have my degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology and I currently work with juvenile delinquents (takes one to know one), but in the future I want to get into the marketing field inan area I am interested in because I want to earn some money in this lifetime.

In my spare time, I spend time with my family and girlfriend, I have a dog and 3 cats who keep me busy too. I pretty much gave up drinking last year, except for the occasional night maybe every couple of months, I find it much easier to acheive my goals in lifting and life without being fucked up and hung over getting in the way.

I answer all PM's and would love to help anyone I can, and if I can't help, I'll ask someone who can. I also want to learn everything I can about every type of training there is, knowledge is power, I also drae motivation and inspiration from hearing about how others train, eat, and live.

i'm 27

i started lifting in college and just started getting serious about it the last couple of years. i got into it for health reasons - lifting is a great stress reliever - and now i can't imagine my life without it.

i love to be outdoors. unfortuntely, i live in chicago, so the nice weather only lasts about 3 months! but, i did do some snow shoeing this winter. i love to mountain bike, so i can't wait until this snow melts. i'll do anything outside - run, rollerblade, hike, whatever. this summer, i'd like to get into adventure racing.

i also love to cook. living healthy does not mean giving up great tasting food!

I'm 27

I was a chubby kid when young, thinned out in high school, but never developed any muscle tone, mainly cause I never worked out. I've lead a pretty wild and counter culture life so working out was not in my agenda until recently. I've worked out on and off through out the past 3 years but never seriously until last year. I am currently trying to lower BF, through proper diet before I start trying to gain size. Goal is just to look good, healthy and (hopefully) ripped. I know it takes time so I'm in it for the long run.

I like Baseball (big Dodgers fan), punk rock, industrial, Betty Page and most anything raunchy in nature. I like to learn so I read and ask alot of questions.

Glad I found this place.

i'm 26. i'm a college sophmore as of this semester. i've got a LONG way to go to finish off school (plan on going to law school after i get my BA).

i just started lifting 6 months ago. in my younger years, i would lift on and off, but never had a good routine and didn't ever make any real gains. i've been making gains in strength and size over the past 6 months. i plan to stay natural. i'm 5'6" and currently close to 165lbs (that's me in the avatar). also, i'm doing all of this while dealing with 2 herniated discs in my thoracic spine. constant source of pain and aggrivation. the added strength from lifting has helped me out a lot overall.

besides school, kids, dogs, and lifting, i spend too much time at the computer. i hope to get the motorcycle on the road this spring, as i didn't ride at all last year and i feel the need to do some knee dragging again :D

Bodybuilder is my passion, but so is my wife and son(who is due in 2 weeks). Also a huge gamer

Well, anyway - I need to start lifting some serious iron to gain weight. 5'7" at 135lb, I know it's shocking. On the plus side I have naturally low BF, and I do heaps of cardio anyhow. Hey brother!! Welcome to the boards!! Ill submit your problem to the administrators and get back to you with an answer. Great to have you aboard!!

Well, I live in San Francisco, 24 years old, 6'3 at about 185 lbs right now. I've been training for almost a year (sadly enough I was at 170 lbs a year ago!) -- I don't know my BF but it's probably around 12-13%. My current goal is put on about 10 more lbs of lean muscle and lose the ol' college beer gut. Love this site... I'll be hanging around a lot in the coming months!

Welcome brother!!!! Dont ever be afraid to ask questions on here! Keep training!

Yo, just got to this site yesturday. 19 yo 6ft 180 have been lifting on and off for a few years now. Never really knew what I was doing. Hoping to get some good advice on training, diet and proper technique from some of you fellas.

Alright I'll play.

age 27
height 6'2"
weight 290

I have been lifting pretty seriously for about ten years and did some lifting for about four years before that.

My goals:
Be competiteve in powerlifting, Strongman, and the Highland games.

Currently I work as a geologist for a natural gas exploration company. I want to go back to school and eventually teach at the college level. For now I am happy to just be a meathead.

CHeers,
Scotsman

This seems a lot like personal ads to me, but here goes.

Age: 25
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: 240 lbs.

Been lifting for 8 years, playing rugby for 1, snowboarding for 12. My majors were Applied Math and Computer Science and I am working in tech support now. I can verify that Scotsman is a meathead

Wait, can I just post a link to my Yahoo Personal? It says alot about me, and what I'm looking for in a woman.

Hello members of the Board.

I've been parousing the boards the last couple days. I posted my idea for a routine and got a great response from big4life, whose advice I will put to good use. I'm glad I found this place, everyone seems cool and willing to help eachother a lot. Very refreshing! And I think it will be an inspiring group to be a part of.
Anyway, I am new to the world of caring about my health and fitness. I'm 28 years old, 6'0", 189 lbs. (down from 198 2 weeks ago), and in overall bad shape. My main hobbies are golf (ex golf professional -not professinal golfer!- and still hanging onto low single digit handicap), reading, writing, poker and video games.
My main goal is very simple: I want to start losing fat and gaining musle, basically "get in shape".
Goal number one in order to attain that: eat right and exercise CONSISTENTLY. Make it a habit.
Getting started and making it a habit is a very tough step for me (I've tried before), and I am hopefull that these boards may help tip the scales in my favor a bit.
I've started by working out with DB's in my home, and taking what I eat seriously. I want to get more serious and structured with the weights and start running. I'm even considering trying to train for a marathon. Though that is getting ahead of myself a bit.
It's been two weeks now and I have at least lost a bit of my gut, and I have confirmed that I do, in fact, have muscles.
A lot of your posts have already helped me out immensely, and I hope I can offer something positive back to the boards in the future.

Cheers.

This is getting really frustrating. I've been a member here for a week now and every day I have been trying to post a new thread, but for some reason it won't work.

How do I contact the admins? And are they responsive?

What happens is I click the submit button and it stalls for a while and then suddenly I get a blank screen. That's it! Then when I go to look for my thread it isn't there. Also (and this is the strangest part) when I try to post the new thread again it tells me I have already posted it within the last five minutes (but it never appears).

This BBS looks like the best fitness BBS on the internet. I really want to participate here, and I believe I have a lot to contribute to the community.

Someone please help.

Thanks,

Emanuel

Great to have you both on the board, SW2green and Emanuel. Welcome!!

Emanuel Ill reinform the administrators that you are still having this problem and see if we can get it fixed so you can post! Others are having this problem too and administration was still working on it last I checked. I had this problem until today, so you might want to try it again today and see if it works.

I'm new here and to the weightlifting game but hope to make some improvements.I'm 21 and about 170l.bs at 5'11.I plan to get my degree in criminaljustice & filmmaking.I'm currently trying to start my own notebrokering firm.I'm also thinking about joining the navy maybe as a S.E.A.L or navy diver.Well thank you for your time.

I'm 29, 5'11" about 187 or so.

Grew up as more of a nerd than an athlete. I was on the football team in college and that's what got me into weight lifting. I've also skateboarded on and off since I was 15.

I broke my left elbow severely (as in 3 screws and a pin to reattach a ligament to my humerus) last January. I came back to lifting too soon and probably aggravated my elbow. This past December I had another operation to remove some bone, scar tissue, and 2 of the screws. I can now do some lat pulldowns and sissy push-ups. I am not going to push it AT ALL this time.

I used to be really religious about working out. Now I realize that being well-balanced is the key with fitness just one of the pieces that fit together to make the person whole.

My best lift ever is a 405 DL. Right now I just do squats and leg work as well as pec dec and pull downs. I tweaked my back a while ago so I won't be doing DLs again until that is sorted.

Sorry to use the metric system, but I'm not comfortable with all those inches, pounds and stuff.
So, I'm 162 cm tall, weigh about 70 kg and I am 41 years "young" :)
I did track and field, when I was young, and it was then that I made friends with weights. I did javelin and shot put. In the end of my studies I found the gym and started lifting more seriously.
My goal has always been to add more power, but I have had problems with my shoulder recently, so I haven't been able to go heavy all the time. I love powerlifting, have been in one raw bench competition (80kg). Squat is my weakest point, have done 102,5 kg at the gym. Deadlift max is 130kg.
But I'm interested in all kinds of power sport. I took part in chin-up championships two weeks ago, I was second. And BTW, I still love to go and throw the javelin, the discus, the hammer, the weight and to put the shot, in the games for the veterans.
I've got lots of other interests, too. I read a lot (fact and fiction). I play the piano and try to compose pieces of my own (and I know how to handle a guitar). I sing in a choir. I write stories (that are buried in my drawer). I learn new languages, actually, I consider myself a linguist. And I'm learning new things about computers.

I'm a guy who read about the sport of powerlifting and I started working out in my home gym like 3 month ago. Before that I would never gain any muscle, just tone a little too much and get overtrained while remaining fat because of bad diet. I'm trying to figure out what will work for that. I'm 23 and half german half croation and used to do track and field and basketball on a german (looser kind of like Detlev "ball-knee-out only 3 timer during Seattle-Bulls Final" Schrempf, [the best German for a long time]) level and played tennis for years when had to stop doing sports. I went to Eldorado Highschool in Placerville and tried out for football. Got on the varsity team and that's how I met the american way of sports for the first time. I was DB covering flats and our running back did a sweep. Breakdown position....Readyto shoot at him....angry like a moth...(RB takes helmet down) ...what the? ...bahhhhhmmm. Whole team cheerin when I got right back up. Later on in the weight room. So germ watcha bench? Going out for QB? Me (intimidated): Hell no. I'm just out here for the fun. Spencer: Ahight you found it. (Gets on the bench) I'm like what the fuck and he benches like 350. For reps. Took a shitload of pills and who knows what else though.
I've had serious knee problems ever since, because I think he fell on my overstretched leg when i was out after that head-on-collision, but now (4 years later) I'm building the muscle to come back to Basketball with a much stronger base this time. The knee gets better from squatting. I could go on and on but basically I'm with PL now and bench 200 squat 200 (taking it easy on this one) and DL 250.
I currently weigh 175 at 16% BF (fat takes as long to go as to come, huh?)

I learned all i know on a German Board: www.ironsport.de (all you have to do is listen to Rammstein all the time and you'll get the hang of german :-) )
That board is way small compared to this here and I'll shut up and start reading now.

23yrs old, been around for a while mostly just taking in great advice from the board and its members, lost around 100lbs now at 195lbs.. getting leaner by the day

Hi guys,

21 yr old male, approx 200lbs @ approx 14% bf.

I've been lifting on and off for a couple of years, but now I'm trying to get into a more disciplined and steady routine. I'm going to work on flexibility and general fitness at the moment, and my goals are to increase my relative strength. I'd like to increase my jump, and general agility and quickness rather than gaining lots of weight.

Aiming to get stronger, quicker and more functional. Not so concerned with aesthetics.

Hows it goin.
I'm a 17 year old from San Antonio, Texas, USA, hoping to learn some new information from this great forum.
I've been working out for about 2 years, and have enjoyed its wonderful benefits. I hope to learn some methods to invigorate my already healthy lifestyle by reading these boards. Down with junk food and soda!! :p

Wat Up?!?! 35 years old here, (feelin like an old fart now after reading all these posts, but was recently inspired by a recent client that is a BB pro and didn't start competeing until he was 42) I'm 6' 3", 210, w-12% BF.

Full time fishing and hunting guide, and part time gym manager. Goal to one day compete in B'Bing competition. Lifted off and on for many years (High School, College, and Military) and am also a wrestling coach here in Washington State as well. Married 10 years.

Hey guys and girls. I have een unable to log on as my old id of "gretak911" so I'm back as Schutzhund1.

I'm really going to start posting more because I'm about to quit my gym as our home will be finished in about 2 weeks and I'm building a gym in my basement. I won't have the guys at my current gym for support so I'm going to rely on this community to keep motivated.

Stats:
29 yrs old
225lbs
24% bf *(Stupid Tanita Body Fat scale- Actually I was 32% less than a year ago when I was 255lbs)
6'5"

I'm most interested in strength so here are my current pr's
flat bench: 315lbs
Squat: 295lbs
Deadlift: 405lbs for 5 reps (never maxed out on deadlift)

My current program:
I'm hitting one body part per day:
Legs
Chest
Back
Off
Shoulders
Triceps
Biceps
Off

I'm thinking of starting the westside program after I move.
I've already purchased most of my equipment which consists of:
Titan Power Rack
FID Bench
Dip Unit
Pro Plate Load Lat pull/ low row
Adjustable Ab bench
1 300lb oly set
8 extra 45lb plates
18" spinlock dumbell handles
16" spinlock dumbell handles
30 standard 10lb plates
4 5lb plates
4 2 1/2lb plates
oly curl bar
dip belt

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the board to all the new people!! :)

There is a lot of information here already, and I am sure that ya'll can add more to the mix. Stick around, learn, teach, and have fun.

Hello everyone.
I got invited here by a member to answer some specific questions but I like the look of it here so I'll stay...unless anyone has any objections....but even then I still might stay :)

I have been training since 1987. I started at 133lbs and peaked this christmas at 240lbs. I like to keep training simple. For example, today was chest and arms day:
Bench press, incline dumbell press, dumbell curls and dips.

Best lifts to date Bench 330lbs for 2 reps, Squat 484lbs for 2 reps and deadlift 484lbs for a single.

I'm down a bit on these after taking time off over christmas and then again when my wife gave birth, but it is coming back...

Thanks m8, yep that was me last summer. I've never really been overly strong I'm afraid.

Looking very impressive brother! What are your measurements? Those lifts arent bad at all brother!! Im just barely breaking 300 now on the benches, coming back from an injury 3 months ago. You obviously have ALOT to offer to the boards, hope to see you around. Train Or Fuckin Die!!!!!!!!!!

My stats when the picture was taken were:
Height 5'9, chest 48, thighs 28, arms 18 1/4, neck 18, calves 17, waist- oh I forget now :)

I'm too scared to take any measurements at the moment. I don't want to depress myself, lol.

Nice!! Our measurements are pretty close. As you can see in my signature, Im a lightweight though at 185-188 right now at 5'8 and 23 y/o. My legs are also a good deal smaller! Were you 240 in that pic? I know how it is not wanting to take measurements. Im in the unfortunate stage now myself! haha The only thing Ive kept in tact are my arms and legs but back/chest measurement has taken a nice hit!! Youll get it back though! I didnt beleive much in muscle memory but it always comes back within a few good hard months of training and eating. Atleast for me. I still have yet to break 200! ThanX for the inspiration!
Heres a couple of pics of me at my peak. The first is from 3 months ago and the second is a year old:

In the pic I was around 230 I think.
You have a few years on me. At 23 I think I was about 180 but you look a lot bigger than I did back then. Are you sure your weighing scales aren't a little light? :)
Also I suspect (cos I can't remember) that my weights back then were a lot lighter than yours are now.
Give it another few years you'll be a freakin' monster!

Awesome! I still havent broken 18" cold on the tape yet. I get up to 17 7/8 on some days. Im really looking to a 19" and 20" inch cold arm now. I can taste it! haha Youd think with a 36 inch waist Id weigh more! My legs must be real small. They are 25" at the largest part and about 17" right above the knee cap! haha My calves are real small. 13.5-14". ThanX brother! I had hoped that a few years ago. Ive been plateaud for a while now! My measurements are pretty much the same as they were a year ago. The only increase I measured was from 17 1/2 on my arms to 17 3/4-7/8. Not much to speak of! Im hoping to make alot more gains naturally, since I havent done juice yet, but unsure of how far I can take it. My triceps suck, so Id think I could hit 20 on my arms naturally. It wont be easy though. The day will probabally come when I go on a little something, hopefully in moderation. Hope to catch up to the pic of you one day! Keep it up!!

Hi. I am 17 years old, live in British Columbia, Canada. I weight around 170lbs, and is about 5'8. I am a Canadian citizen, but I am originally from Myanmar. I work out mainly because I dont want to be another pinner Asian kid. So far I am VERY impressed with the results, and dont see myself quitting anytime soon. I enjoy hanging out with friends ( every Friday we have "Drigh" day- drunken, high day and we all just hang out), playing on the pc, playing soccer, working out (ofcourse), women, playing rugby, playing football, have a ps2, but never touch it.

hey, I'm 24yrs old from california. 5'11' 270lbs. bf-high! I've been seriously lifting for about 2 yrs now after taking about a 5yr hiatus from bb back in high school. Then, I was 5'11" 170lbs. Been focusing on weight training more than anything. Have forsaken cardio although I need it. Just can't stay motivated for it...but I'll lift all day every day, no problem!

Heya guys, stumbled on here a few days ago and I have been overwhlemed by how knowledgable and helpfull everyone here seems to be. These boards are awesome, figured this would be the best place to start my first post. I am 24 Years old 6'1 194Lbs I live in Tucson Arizona but am currently out in Qatar over in the middle east. I have always been a skinny can't gain muscle kind of guy but here recently I have hit the gym like never before and have been loving it. I am a network admin/comp system admin geek by trade, and by hobby. You will usually catch me bugging with my computer, hitting the club throwing my gains awayon that wonderfull thing called beer or hitting the gym.

I bow to all of you who love this crazy sport of BB. I've been here for a week now, and this is a great board,...

I’m 24, 5’11 200lb 10% BF, been trainin for the past 9 years, but only the last 3 years seriously, I’m looking to gain more mass and get my BF to single digits, and with your help I might just get there!

THx

Hi folks... I have been lurking these boards for a while, though I have never really been all that into bodybuilding per se... but one day about a year ago I woke up to find myself fat, weak, and unexpectedly single for the first time since I was 15 years old... so I decided to do something about it. I switched careers, moved out of state, and started working on my body. I am 39 years old, 5' 10", 170 lbs. now; exactly a year ago, I was 258 lbs., and was totally out of shape. I had a 46" waist then; I have a 29/30 waist now. Yay for me.

I managed to shred down to 155 in about 6 months. (I never did any aerobic activity, I used the lifting machines at the gym... unless you count a 15 minute warm up on a stairmaster...)

For the next 6 months, I worked on getting my strength back up, and have brought my weight up to a really toned 170-172. I still have some chub clinging to the ol' abs, and my ass is mushy because of a double disc-ectomy (L-4/5, L-3/4) in September... and my arms are, well, puny. I am working right now to get a nice 5 day split routine in place and get it consistent... I will be perusing the boards here for input, I can guarantee that... heh.

I really don't have any hobbies, other than my new job and the gym... and I am excited as hell to be at the start of actually building my body, rather than working to burn it down.

You're all probably gonna get tired of me asking questions, but I am a total noobie at this. Talking about it keeps me motivated...

So that's my story... glad to meet ya'll!

Jay

Hm ...

I'm 21, around the high 170s, low 180s right now. I'd guess 10-11% bodyfat. There's a full size pic of my avatar in my gallery if you feel like lookikng. Been lifting for about 3 years, and I'm not going to stop, ever.

Other hobbies include going to concerts, movies, art, and hockey ...

I guess that's all.

Welcome to the boards...and good job on all your progress. I'd be interested to know what you did to knock your weight down to 155lbs in 6 mo.'s without any cardio. What kind of dieting did you do?

Hi....hows it goin. I'm 18, 6'2, 160lbs and have bf of about 12%. I got into weights 2 years ago when I bought a bench, barbell and dumbell set from gf's big brother. Started lifting whilst also playing for my soccer team, and saw small improvement in strength. 3 months later started at the gym and bought protein powder. Kept on eating junk and got annoyed with lack of results, blamed genetics tried weight gain 2000 and gave up soccer.
Surprise, surprise...loss in cardio fitness, gain in fat in unwanted places mainly gut and ass and eventually gave up 6 months later dis-illusioned. Lazed around for 6 months doing very little if any exercise then started swimming. Started eating semi-healthy and added stuff like going out on bike rides and got job at italian restaurant.
Realised the abbundance(spelling) of cheap chicken and eggs and started wondering about trying lifting again. Read about on the internet, found this place, read up and have hopefully formed a starting point to start gaining.
Currently eating doing 3 day 5X5 compound routine and eating 6 meals a day, 3 regular meals high in carbs and protein, 3 shakes, last one of day mixed with peanut butter and cottage cheese.
Main focus at the moment is exams cos i bummed on them last year, want to join police when i finish school.

Had ACL surgery for being stupid
Been gaining weight like crazy since i passed 260 go figure.

Zxe,

I used the old "cheated on, lied to, and dumped" diet... I was a real wreck at the time and am one of those people who cannot eat when they're upset. (We were together for 12 years, house, cars, pets, etc. all down the tubes and I didn't see it coming...)

As far as my actual food intake, it was really strict... I kept it to survival levels;

Breakfast: Slimfast every other day, 3oz yogurt over whatever fruit was there (an apple, an orange, whatever) on the opposing days.

Lunch: Slimfast or a 6oz salad or 8 oz steamed veggies Plus a small protein shake (one scoop designer protein in a 1/2 pint carton of non fat milk or water)

Dinner: 1 chicken breast, stripped of all visible fat and pounded flat with any sort of dressing like italian or barbeque (No cheese or oils) Plus 6 oz mixed green salad (no dressing) or 8 oz steamed veggies
Other dinner protien sources: 1 can water packed Tuna dry, twice a month a 4oz prepackaged filet mignon, grilled, 4oz Healthy choice sliced turkey

At the end of the weight loss, I added two more small protein shakes between meals, because I could see that my body was cannibalizing all the muscle tissue. It helped.

The workout was patterend after the old circuit workouts; max reps at max weight to failure, with 30 seconds or less recovery between body parts. Bench press, leg press, military press, hamstring curls, bicep curls... all the way through the circuit... full body every day. I guess that pattern has an aerobic quality to it... but it worked. I did it 6 days a week.

I have to add that I am not advocating that anyone wanting to retain their muscle mass try this! I was in a bad state of mind at the time, and unless I regimented exactly what I was going to eat, I couldn't eat.

Anyone know how many calories that diet would be?

Hey guys,
I have been part of T-mag for about 20 months now and finally decided to check out elite. I am a gradute student at the University of Pittsburgh completing my Masters's in Public Health (Epidemiology) in August. Im suppose to continue on for my PhD, but that is rather doubtful. I work for an a**hole. Instead i am going to go back into the motel/hotel business. I have spent most of my life in this business, even though im only 24 (almost 25...a few more days).

Ahh...lifting. I have been training for about 8 years. I have spent the past 5 years training non-stop, no more than a week off at a time. The past two years i have been training 5 days a week, the previous 3 years for 3-4 days per week. I have been fortunate to train with a wide variety of individuals. For the most part i usually train my partners because they are less experienced, but i am still able to learn different techniques and tricks from them.

Some numbers.

height: 5'10.5"
weight: 250lbs
chest: 49-50"
arms: 18.5"
legs: no clue, but very small...i have a V-frame.

bench: 3 sets of 15 reps @ 315
all-time high...425, probably over 450 now.
rest pauses: 405 for 3 reps

close grip: 315 for 10 reps
military press: 275 for 7, 3 sets of 10 @ 225
arms: standing dumbbell curls: 60s
standing barbell curls: 155 for 10 (a little shaky)
legs: OH SHI*, bad knees i take it easy
squats: 315 for 10 reps
deads: 315 for 10 reps

Enough and nice to meet everyone. I will be reading up to get to know everyone.
thanks,
corey

Very impressive #s, do you play d-line or o-line?

Center/Guard....i prefer center though. I like the feeling of tracking linebackers. I think it takes a bit of athleticism. I don't know if we are running that scheme this year though. I also feel like when i snap the ball i get an extra jump on everyone else. Sounds crazy i know but that's just how i think.

Regarding goals...i think the dead can be done this year the squat next year and the clean this year or next...i can pretty much pull anything up...

The bench....it doesn't like me...if i hit 400 one day i think it would be my greatest achievement.

Still natural too. I guess i am just proud that i have been able to do what i have done with my lifts after knee surgery. Thanks God...thank someone...and knock on wood everyday.

Is that you in your avie? You don't look 295. But if it is keep it up. Your training sounds grounded, at least from your other past post

Seabass67,
All natural is the way to go. I havent had a protein shake in 6 months. I routinely eat protein bars at school, however, every time i drink a shake i gain a pound.

Your 'poor' bench as i think you may refer to it as. Try this:

warm-up: 10-20 reps @ 135
warm-up: 10 reps @ 225
warm-up: 6 reps @ 275
1st set: 10 reps @ 315
2nd set: 10 reps @ 315
3rd set: 10 reps @ 315
rest pauses: 3 reps @ 335, 345, 355, 365

All on flat bench. Every now and then use a similar routine for incline.
I have put 2-3 inches on my chest since doing this exercise. You may feel like you regress at first, but it will pay dividends. All of your buddies will be shocked.

When i started doing this routine, i could do 365 for 5 reps on a good day and i could only do 1 set of 315 for 10 reps. I have dramatically increased over the past year. Now, i rep 315 for 3 sets of 15 reps (flat), rest pause 405 for 3. My incline has moved up to 3 sets of 10 @ 275. When i push it and go heavy (sets of 6 as high as i can go without failing to do 6 reps) on incline i am up to 335 for 5 reps.

My training partner (5'7" 175lbs) couldnt do 225 for a set of 10 eight months and now can knock out 225 for 3 sets of 12.

wicko. I do not need to discuss training principals, but that is a lot of warm up reps. Keep it low reps in warmup. My best at 225 for reps was 29 reps at a BW of 218. At 5'7", shouldn't he be stronger. No need for a reply. Save it for the training board

Sorry, but it takes me a little while to loosen/warm up. Plus when you start to go heavy it takes a little while to build up to the weight without shocking the muscles too much. I really dont know how many times i could do 225. At the end of one of my workouts i used it as a cool down and did 20 reps.

I believe...Thanks for the routine i might try it out...damned bench!
