Interesting GBL info

I phoned a local importer of BASF GBl , to ask what quality of BASF GBL he imported. He said that he imported industrial grade GBL , but that the quality of the electronics grade BASF GBL sold by most online suppliers was extremely high as it has to be if used in the microchip industry. So im wondering is electronics grade up ther whith pharmaceutical grade ?

I am almost sure that it doesn't come pharm. grade. The electronics grade is pretty good. You should be able to get a MSDS (material saftey data sheet) with it so you can see what the impurities are....

If you can get activated carbon that will also help clean it up (ie removing the heavy metals) Don't forget the other end of the equation (NaOH sodium hydroxide) that needs to be pure too.

If you plan on using GBL alone then get any grade that you want....your going to fuck up your body pretty bad drinking that shit by itself!

Would you care to explain why you are going to "fuck yourself up" using gbl more than say, using ghb?

yes please explain this statement. Any scientific studies to back it up??

The ph Level of 99.9% pure GBL is somewhere around 3. It's like drinking an acid. It eats your esophogus, and stomach lining. Ghb when made correctly has a ph of about 7. Much safer for the body

hmmm so now GBL is an acid...
That's a new one...
GBL has a neutral pH... it's a mucus membrane irritant, which is why it IRRITATES you esophagus if not diluted (which you would have to be hardcore or nuts to take shots of undiluted GBL, the taste is just too horrid) ;)

Traz. I didn't know that about GBL being a mucus membrane irritant, thats interesting. Thanks for the info.
--The reason I came to the conclusion that GBL is an acid is because I have tested 2 different bottles of GBL( ph strips) The first one was a 3 and the second being a 4. I assumed thats the reason you mix sodium hydroxide with GBL, because NaOH has a high ph. Therefore the exothermic reaction results in a more neutral ph, Usually around 7.

There is something harsh in it, I left a tiny amount in the bottom of a hard plastic cup and the next day it actually cracked the plastic.

there is not "something" harsh in it,

GBL is a solvent for certain types of plastic, as long as your stomach is not made up of plastic, you are all set! :)

The pH is not 3...that is for sure! GBL is neutral pH. As the other guy said, lactone is a solvent and that is why it can dissolve certain types of plastic (if recycle you know the different type HDPE, HDPP etc.)

Why do I say that lactone is shit to use by itself? Because I used it for several months all the time (like you are not suppose to do) when I stopped using the stuff, I went through some SERIOUS withdrawls! Thought I was going to die.

I have also used GHB the same way....daily and for months on end. The withdrawls are not near as bad! There is something different that your body does when it process Lactone vs. GHB. They all enter into glycolysis but at different places in the pathway....there is a possible by-product that results from this...(not sure...this is just my guess)

So to answer your question, I base my info off of first hand knowledge. I have been using it for YEARS and I can tell you that Lactone has BAD side effects....you might not notice them at low amounts but still...there is something different about it.

if the lactone is pure there are no different by products. It converts to ghb by hydolysis and as a result of the equiblibium issues takes longer to fully metabolize extending the effects. The actual effect is the same once converted. You have to remember that mg/mg is is significantly stronger than ghb so you could easily be taking more than you think. I think the moral of the story is to take it(as well as ghb) in low doses and not continually. There is no biologic reason to think that it is better or worse for you. I have taken it as well as ghb and 1,4- for many years. I would never touch 1,4- becasue of the liver toxicity but gbl/ghb are really a toss up for me, whichever i can get is OK. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
