1. Ignornace is bliss. (so true)

2. Intelligent people are the minority. There are fewer people you will be able to relate to and/or discuss certain issues.

3. Intelligent people tend to overthink insted of simply acting.

4. It's assumed an intelligent person will and should carry more responsibility than a dumbass.

5. The frustration of trying to explain something to a stupid person is tantamount to torture.

6. Intelligent people are more prone to spells of depression or even be chronically depressed.

7. The "gift" of intelligence also means you have enough brain power to realize how bleak and miserable this life truly can be. (see points 1 and 6)

8. Intelligent people tend to question what they are told more often since they realize there are very few, if any, absoltute truths.

I wanna be a dumbass.

Smoke lots of dope. I'm still not a dumbass, but that shit really slowed me down by the time I graduated college. :spin:

I too have come to the conclusion that intelligence is a curse.

Having more intellignece makes you see everyting from a different perspective, this different perspective will inevitably cause you to clash with those around you. Also any argument you present and win will make you known as a smart ass and average people will find you irritating.

You brain will work overtime on everything. From finances, future events, politics, phylosophy and the meaning of life and why am i here. Quite annoying as it makes it hard to enjoy life and relax.

Another draw back is that most people will see your intelligence as intimidating and will develop a inferiority complex, thus excluding you from the group. That makes it really hard to get recognition and move ahead, especially at work.

So yes, i wish i could be average with a 75 point IQ and go through life just being happy and part of the croud.

Sincerely

INTOLERANCE: I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either. See I want to believe you, and I want to trust and I want to have faith to put away the dagger. But you lie, cheat, and steal. And yet I tolerate you. Veil of virtue hung to hide your method while I smile and laugh and dance and sing your praise and glory. Shroud of virtue hung to mask your stigma as I smile and laugh and dance and sing your glory while you lie, cheat, and steal. How can I tolerate you. Our guilt, our blame, I've been far too sympathetic. Our blood, our fault. I've been far too sympathetic. I am not innocent. You are not innocent. No one is innocent. I will no longer tolerate you. Even if I must go down beside you. Because, No one is innocent.

In response to your post of course. Good Job.

The worst thing about intelligence is the expectations that come with it. My mother shipped me off to a child psychologist to have my IQ tested when I was 9, and because I was presented with a high score, my parents sent me to a highly-pressurised academic boarding school. I didn't realise it at the time, because I didn't know differently, but being surrounded by high-achieving kids with pushy parents doesn't do much for either self-esteem or a realistic outlook on life. It was only in later years that I discovered that not all teenagers wax philosophical over their morning cheerios or spend their lunch break questioning the merits of pythagoras theorum.

I actually developed a stange defense mechanism against the expectations I felt I had placed on me. I would feign stupidity so that any of my potential failures would not surprise or disappoint people too much. I didn't realise I did this at first, but even now that I realise it's something I'm prone to do, I find myself still putting on the 'confused blonde' act a lot of the time.

I like being intelligent on one hand, mainly because I love learning new things and I enjoy arguing for my opinion, but it is indeed a mixed blessing because I am so fearful of failure that I've spent so much more time running away from my potential than I have fulfilling it.

Re: TN Musclebear's post, where he said:

You know, in a Time magazine poll in the mid 80s, almost 90% of the respondents felt that they were more intelligent, and better informed than the majority of the population.

I can well believe that too. The same goes for people's confidence in their own social skills. The majority of people seem to think that they are above average when it comes to social interaction, even though this, of course, cannot be the case. Your whole perception of the world is the result of your intelligence and so I doubt anyone can truely think they are stupid. Because if they do then that means they would have to dismiss everything they know of the world as somehow less than what it really is. Everyone's perception is everyone's truth.

so true. 98% of people cant even think outside their bubble, and whenever they are challenged to do so, they get pissed off.

one the plus side, its easy to make money of the "flock"

Just try to relax and not take people so seriously. You sound like a very intelligent person. Don't let what people say or feel about you affect your life. Be yourself and people who appreciate intelligence and wit will come to you.

sincerely,
