insulin

I believe he's reading that 1 gram of carbs is 4 calories. That's the only thing that I can figure. Anyway table sugar is sucrose. Sucrose is a dissachride consisting of glucose and fructose. When taking Humulin R, you want to take a mix of dextrose(glucose, hits you fast), medium chain maltodextrin(hits you slower than dextrose), and then the longer acting carbon chains which I'm not going to try and spell. There's several more. I use about 25% of each with Humulin R. I recommend getting used to one type of insulin and figure out how to max results with it. If you're using Humulin R, don't switch to Humalog w/o changing your consumption times of carbs.

As a diabetic I would add start with 5 iu's Yes I take about 60+/- Iu's a day(depending on diet) but I produce very little insulin and am insulin resistant, research the effects more first and for God sakes keep glucose on hand.K to ya Mak
