I bought a bottle of Humulin N from the drug store. The pharmacist said it is the fastest acting of R or 70-30. I am about to start my first slin cycle and need confirmation from someone that "Humulin N" is ok to use and to give me an idea of how long it lasts in the body.
You bought the wrong insulin analogue. The N designation means that its intermediate acting, not rapid acting. You want either; R or Log (Huma/Nova), those stay in your blood stream for a petite 5-6 hours, maximal. Humulin N will be running amuck for up to 24 hours, that means you run the risk of going hypo while your sleeping. Plus due to the sensitivity of the polypeptide, you can’t return it once bought. Methinks you shalt be doing some more mental exploration on the topic prior to commencing.

The Yahoo dope at the pharmacy specifically told me that the N was faster acting than the others! I happen to be in South America, where the pharmacists may actually be janitors at night. I searched for¨"N" on this site, but no luck.
