Inspiration/motivation source

I was just at the store stocking up on lotion, soap and I noticed that they had the sunscreen/lotions. I immediately thought of Hawaian Tropic. I love the smell of that stuff and it took me back mentally to being young and in shape. So my hope is that next time I start to crave something I can rub on a little HT and remind myself that summer is coming up and I want to be in bikini shape. **Disclaimer** I am not advocating suntan lotion or tanning. I also bought regular lotion and sunscreen.**

Anybody else have a quirky motivation tip/method? JCK

lmao @ ur disclaimer!lol

i recently printed out my progress pics and stuck them on my bedroom door. I wake up each morning and i see what body was there, then i'd go into the restroom and i see what IS there. this has been helping me keep my focus on what my body is currently instead on mewling on what i'm going to look like, or what i'd like to look like in a few months. i alway pondered and put too much energy in what i wanted to accomplish that i wasn't focusing on what i was doing to get there as much as i should have been. well now that i am, it has been working out great, i have been working out harder in the gym, more focused. this in turn will get you where you need/plan to be even faster.

I'm trying to get in shape and recently lost 12 pounds in the past 7 weeks doing lots of cardio kickboxing classes. But I've been getting lots of aches (knee ligaments, rotator cuff) and having a hard time getting motivated to workout at all. the older I get the more I'm falling apart

So I rented some movies this week, both about female boxers, and the past couple days I can't wait to get back in the gym! kinda silly, but it worked for now! Here's what I saw

-Fight Night: this one was in the new releases and it's about a female prizefighter. The lead actress is small, lean and tough. Actually a really good movie and made me want to workout hard in my classes. Here's a short trailer you can peek at:

-Girl Fight: Another boxing movie with a female lead Michele Rodriguez, she's also so lean and tough, and I like to pretend I'm that lean and tough

My boyfriend loves my body...and he loves the changes he's seeing in it since I started lifting. So that's a motivation source. I also need to be able to hang with the boys doing divemaster stuff and carrying around two 40 lb tanks at a time. Eventually i want to get involved in tech diving, which would involve being able to manage over 150lbs of equipment - not just walking with it, but being able to lift myself out of potentially rough seas wearing it.

All of these are pretty motivating for me. but when i'm in the middle of a tough workout and that little voice says "just stop, you look good already," I picture the boyfriend looking at me in a bathing suit and seeing in his eyes that he can't wait to get me out of it, and that keeps me pushing through.

you go Nefertiti!! I don't know anything about tech diving, but it sounds amazing and very difficult. Being in rough seas with that type of equipment strapped to your body sounds like warrior stuff to me. Sounds like with those type of dangerous conditions and physical demands it's probably mostly a male dominated line of work, so I give you extra props for getting in there and working hard to "hang with the boys".

I've been doing my best to hang with the boys in my kickboxing training, it's not your typical taebo variety as it's more of a full out hitting heavy bags, focus mitts, give and take punches, hard core training. you learn how to hit, but also how to not get hit, which means punches and kicks get thrown at you alot and you do get caught with a punch to the nose or kick to the stomach often. The class is really 95% male, and the few of us girls in there are really admant about nobody "taking it easy" on us. That's what got me so motivated when I was watching Fight Night - the girl isn't in there fighting other females, she is fighting guys and winning! It's always inspiring to see a woman get in an enviroment like that and challenge herself to succeed.

Because of the weight requirements as well as the intricate training in gas mixing and highly specialized equip, tech diving is very very predominantly male. Plus, the diving itself is ahrd, so really the kinds of people who get into it either love risk/challenge/pushing themselves to their limit, or have dreams of diving intact wrecks for salvage (anything above 200 feet usually gets blown to bits by the navy). Every time you dive, one tiny mistake can cost you your life, and tech dives usually involve hours of long, boring decompression while in the water.

I'm both an adventurer - I want to dive these wrecks, get my piece of china or silver handled brush or porthole - and a risk taker who loves pushing myself. I have a few years of diving before I'll even be remotely ready to start working towards that, but it's definitely in my future.

I'm terrified in deep water (anything where I can't easily reach or see the bottom), so all I can say is that sounds amazing and scary. Wow!!!

I hope you achieve everything you desire in diving, and safely!

Thanks :)

By the way, I may be only 27, but I've put my body through so much with ballet that I'm falling apart as well. I had to skip the gym today because my knee tendonitis flared up a little again. I also have osteoarthritis in both knees and only recently overcame an MCL injury from last year. it's extremely trying to be limitied in what I can and can't do, how often I can do it, by my withered and abused leg joints.

I think for inspiration I am going to have my DD make me a beaded bracelet with Thandie's name on it so whenever I am in the gym I can feel inspired by her recent accomplishment....her PRO Card!!!!! Congratulations!
