So... I have two job offers right now but one of them is kind of a mess, let me break them down
IT for a local community college: Pros: I get excempt tuition so I could get a free degree in something more useful, I'm leaning towards tech area, has a decent salary(more than I was making) and I'd only work Monday through Thursday. Cons: it's a bit further than B and not very sure if there is room for professional advancement
Counselor for substance abuse program: Pros: I'd finally get to work in my field, I can get trained for a lot of things from paperwork, to counseling in other areas, urianalysis and others, has room for escalation as a full time counselor, program director or more Cons: for now it will be a 1099 and they would pay me per services but they dont know how much I'd be making, however the head counselor said they dont like their counselor in my area and they may offer it to me if I prove to be effective
The IT jobs sounds all around more stable, better benefits and they pay pretty much the same once full time, but the counseling one is kind of what I've really been wanting to do, bad thing is they guarantee nothing which obviously sucks, I'm going in on Monday to get more info on the numbers of what I could be making, the lady said she knew I can make at least $1000 a month and I was like WTF just $1000
, on another side I can do IT/tech anytime, this is the first and only counseling opportunity I've had in almost 2 years, thanks to the part time I can afford to not make much but I'd hate to blow the IT position and have the counseling position go nowhere in a month or two, I also have no idea how to operate as a 1099, is it too much of a mess as per taxes, medicare and social security?
Any input on this memememeemememe is appreciated since I'm confused
