Injury-Help please!

O.K., I just got back from the gym. I was doing a seated calf-raise with an obscene amount of weight and I felt & heard sort of a "wet" pop, or snap in my calf. It wasn't in the joints, it was somewhere inside the tissue about half way up my fibula. It's sore but I'm afraid I may have damaged something. Almost as if something "shifted quickly" in the tissue.

Has ANYONE ever had this happen while doing heavy lifts? I can't imagine that sounds like that can be a good thing.

While I didn't scream in pain. I AM worried. It was as if some part of my tissue suddenly "gave". I have normal movement but it is sore to walk on.

I realize it's kinda dumb to ask for opinions on a board ("can you hold it up to the phone so I can see what it looks like?") but can anyone speculate or suggest what it may be.

when ligaments tear they do make a popping noise. are you able to stand on your toes? how long ago did this happen

yeah I can still stand on my toes.

happened exactly 3 hrs 10 min. ago. (I have a clock in front of me)

can you partially tear a ligament?

I stopped IMMEDIATELY when I felt "something isn't right". spotter lifted it off for me.

O.K. I just got a professional opinion regarding what has happend.

Since, apparently Bigsteve12 lost interest, and rjl doesn't have anything to contribute...

Answer is:

I have come very close to actually tearing a ligament, however I have torn the soleus muscle where it turns from muscle into ligament. Fortuneatly this is considered a "tissue" area by my body and it will heal itself relatively quickly. The sound I heard/felt was/is the sound of a space in the tissue (tear) opening up very quickly. While it is rather painful, it is not at this point debilitating...YAY!

I simply am not going to be doing obscene amounts of weight with my calves for a while.

Likely this applies to some other "noisy" injuries that may occur in other areas of the body.

Not that it seems anyone really gives a shit anyway...
