Injection spot swollen/rock hard

Hey guys, My doc shoots me and my best mate every wednesday and saturday in the glute.

Anyway we rotate diferent sides each time, and yesterday (saturday) the left glute where my friend was injected 4 days before (on the wednesday) Is really swollen and ROCK hard. It hurts his lower back and he cant run.

Weird because I am fine. anyway we normally do x200mg each day but on this instance he did 400mg to load. Anyway just wondering what this is? Anything to be overly concerned about? the fact that it is rock hard seems kinda bad and it is noticably swollen. he'll go get a doc to look at in a few days or tomorrow if it doesnt get better.

Who else has had this experience?

EDIT, its swollen across his entire lower back and the area is very warm. He says he feels like there is 'fluid' running from one glute across to the other

Congratulations. He triggered the sleeping gene. He's going to grow a third leg.

Chances are the oil bubble is pressing on a nerve and hasn't disperse yet. If it continues have a doc look at it though it could be a infection.

If it isn't red and the person does not have a temp than I would put a heating pad on it for a few hours and massage it every 30 min during heating. This will help get that ball of juize out of there.

yeah i think its an infection.. it is very hot, the area swollen, and he says he can feel fluid across into the centre of his back.... whether there is fluid there I am not sure but it is swollen over a huge area not just in the injection spot..

seems strange to get an infection, done in a doctors office everything was a sterile as can be.

I was actually suprised at how large the rock hard swollen bit was...

hmm maybe time to go to the doc. OBVIOUS question, but do not inject into there for quiet a while im guessing? looks like delts for him

hes going to have to have the abscess surgically removed. he can get very sick if he leaves it be. I actually popped an abscess about 8 years ago when i was young and stupid and injected my best friends pectoral. He got an absess and was leaving for miami in a week and was freaking out with no health insurance. I took a 21gauge drawing needle stuck it in the lump. starting withdrawing then started to remove the syringe out of his pec while at the same time pinching the lump very hard. needless to say the amount of blood and puss that came out of his chest was repulsive.... i nearly threw up

sounds like an abcess. I agree with the heating pad or even better....moist heat. watch for redness and induration

yeah its just weird because it didnt START getting swollen til 3 days after the injection..

anywho yeah i just told him to wait n see if it gets better.

I don't mean to rock the boat but a visit to your gp immediately is the best, let them decide what is necasary, it maybe nothing, it may just need antibiotics, but if it turns out you need to go under the knife due to listing to someone who has no practical medical experience that is really going to suck! Please just go to your gp tell them what is going on. The don't hate you and the sooner you get it looked at, the sooner you can either relax or start treatment.
