Injection question...

It's almost time for my second injection...the first was administered by a friend of mine.

I am now well aware of the proper procedure for an injection, but I have a question about self injecting into the glut. If I was to inject into my right glut, I would be using my right hand to hold the syringe. What is the best method for pulling on the plunger (to check to see if you hit a vain), do I change hands and pull with my right and holding the needle with my left or do I reach and pull with my left hand? Should I try to pull using my thumb (right hand) and maintain holding the syringe with the same hand? In other words, not use the left hand at all? Thanks for the help guys!!

Glute injections can be a bitch to do if you have to do them yourself. It's usually very difficult to stay steady and still. Try quads or delts. They are very easy to do and you can actually see what your doing. I prefer quads more than delts, but if I'm injecting more than 2 times a week I'll use delts. But quads are very easy, very steady, and very simple IMO :)

just aspirate one handed. Hold the syringe with ur thumb and ring finger and pull back on the plunger with ur index and middle. I would recommend 23g 1 1/2inch cauz its a bitch to try to aspirate in the glute one handed with a 25g, it just takes too much pressure and i always seem to move the pin and wind up hurting myself

Thanks guys..sounds like a real.."pain in the ass". lol

Perhaps I'll try my quad instead..it's just that I'll be shooting 3cc's and I don't know if that's a bit much for the quad. I have 22g 1.5" needles. 3cc's OK for quads? Thanks!

great site..thanks man. according to them...no more than 2cc's in the thigh...so I guess I'm gonna have to try it in the glut. Wish me luck!! hehe...i got butterflies in my stomach

Vic, you should be able to get away with 3cc's in the quad. Just make sure that you deep massage to spread the oil real well so that you don't end up having it clump in the same area. Also make sure you give that area a week to recuperate.

i hit a vein once, i didnt need to pull to know that. it hurts like HELL. to me aspiration is over rated, you'll know if you hit a vein. OUCH

Just put the needle in the glutes...stay just below your iliac crest (boney structure) and lateral (to the side). This will assure you are fare enough away from the Sciatic nerve. Use your right hand. Just dart it in without any hesitation. Once in, push in all the way in and hold the plunger with a finger tip on the right while holding the end/or pushing the end of the syringe with the same hand (right). You can hold the base of the syringe with left hand if you need to while you slightly pull back the plunger.

Good luck.

PS: Karma is always welcome here.

here's my ass shot method...
first of all sit down. if i am shooting into the right then with my right hand i stick the needle into the cliched outer top quadrant. then i maneouvre my left hand behind my back and hold the syringe with it while pulling back on the plunger with my right for asperation. pushing it in is similar. i have always found one handed asperation too difficult.

All went well (did the glut). I did it using one hand and had no problems. Well, maybe one small one. After I injected I had a real problem pushing the plunger in. I THINK it's because I got the injection ready before I took a shower and the steam/condensation made it a bit difficult to push in. Other than that all went well...off to the gym. Thanks all!

I like doing glutes while standing. It's okay to let go of the needle and let it dangle from your asscheek. It won't slide out or anything. That way if you get a cramp or need to reposition your hands you can do so.

Also, 22g shouldn't be hard to push the plunger at all. Unless you trying to go too fast. Remember: the slower the better. Your less likley to develop lumps and/or an abcess.
