increasing neural efficiency with higher reps?

I've read that increasing ones 1rm in a movement will translate into increases in there 3rm, 5rm, 8rm etc., which is common sense. Does anyone know how increasing ones capacity in a, say, 5-8 rep range will affect their 1rm? I know this might be common sense too, but switching to a higher rep range really got me thinking if its going to have ANY affect on my totals. thanks!

NOBODY can train with 1RMs all of the time. 3's 5's, etc, are necessary. They will definitely help raise the 1RM because using them is the BEST way to raise it.

If you look at any periodized program then about half of it will be higher-rep work. Concentrating on singles and doubles does a lot for your neural efficiancy but without some higher-rep work your muscles will decondition.

I find it works both ways. Mainly the higher reps (higher then one) are what factors into me increasing my one rep max. It also gives the mental advantage of knowing your capabilities. If I can rep 335x10 for example, 405 wouldnt seem so heavy to overcome. Thats why Ive always incorporated both, since I train for strength and size. Just my experience.
