Friend of mine has been doing Incline Chest and Flat Cable Press only for 3 years and his chest is outrageous. I have been doing them for the past 2 months and I get more control, contraction and pumps than ever. Is their a reason why these movements are never even talked about?

i personally think cables suck for pretty much everything, but if something works for you it would be unwize not to do it.

there is no part of the movement where the tension decreases when doing chest presses in the cables. also, your friend could have real good pec development genetically.

what they said and also, if he has been working out for 3 years consistently and has kept up a good diet, chances are he will grow regardless of what he does.

I am not taking anything from dips or db's or barbells... I love dumbells, but I have to say that the cables allow me to feel constant tension and controlled contractions. I just cant believe its never even mentioned.

I think people tend to overlook these movements. They think that the basics like barbell bench are the only way to go. I dont just use these exclusively but I do add these too my routine.

Cable machines IMO are assistance lifts for bodybuilders to isolate bodyparts or bring up lagging ones. Best bang for your buck growth wise is free weights.

I agree, i dont think people should do cables unless theyre benching 315+. Say someone could cable press 120x10, thats 1200 lbs or you could do 225x10 on bench and thats 2250 lbs. 1000lb difference
