implants in march...best advice please?

mshad

New member
I am getting my implants in march and have done more than my fair share of homework on it but would love to hear your best bits of advice for before and after...sometimes the little things are the ones people forget to tell you but help sooooo much!

Thanks in advance

Are you going under or over the muscle? what incision?

I hope that you're going under the muscle.

i had to go over the muscle.
sometimes you can have complications if you are particularly muscular or strong.
I got anatomically correct ones- they look real- you can see in my gallery.

I haven't had implants, but from other surgery I have a tip for coming out of the anesthesia. Have whoever will be there with you bring Lifesavers or hard candy & Chapstick!! You may have very chapped lips & severe cotton mouth -- the kind soda/juice/water won't get rid of..... I did...

First get on www.implantinfo.com Lots of good information on there.
Do a check on your Surgeon... Ask if you can see pics.. some docs even have a list of patients that you can contact. Make sure everything checks out..

Secondly, make sure you ask your doc any and every question you have. Don't be shy even though it may seem like a silly question to you.. its your body that you are altering. NO question is a silly question!

Before surgery have a few things handy... make sure if there are any items that you would normally have to reach or climb for .. bring them down to make them convient to access... Make a few meals in advance so you don't have to worry about cooking.

Have Ice bags read... or you can do what was suggested to me and worked GREAT.. get a few bags of baby sweet peas.. freeze them.. works great and can be re-frozen over and over for multiple uses ;)

Drink LOTS AND LOTS of water... The anesthesia seemed to make be bloated. Not sure if this is the case with everyone.

If you have any more specific questions shoot them my way... Good luck darlin ;)

Your doc should tell you all this & you will also get a lot of it from implantinfo.com -- that is the source I used to research the whole deal, locate my doc, prep for it, chat w/ other upcoming or recent patients.

- Wear loose clothes that button / close up the front when you go in.
- Get some bags of frozen peas to keep when u need ice packs. They work better than ice packs & are cheap. You'll want these at least the first couple of days for the swelling & pain. (Depends on overs / unders.)
- USE the painkillers. I got off mine w/in 4 days. But I also went thru a sort of "detox" period on them about a week later. It took a little while for the accumulated drug to get worked out of my system so when it did I was a little bit depressed. But part of that could just be the annoyance of the implants (not shooting pain, but just annoyign pain)
- When you come out you literally feel like an elephant is sittign on your chest. Again, dependign on overs / unders. I slept in a recliner for 2 days because I couldnt' lay down comfortably, or get up from a laying position. AFter that my lower back hurt like a beeeotch from sitting so long. If this is your situation, see if you can get someone to give you a lower back / back massage to help w/ the soreness. I don't mean like lying down on the massage table - rather sit on a kitchen chair reversed so you can lean over the back & get the back rub. HELPS ALOT!
- If you are going to be without someone around you at ALL TIMES to help you, move those things that you use on a regular basis down to below shoulder level, e.g. food from your cupboards down to counter level, so you don't have to lift your arms up to get them. You won't be able to & the doc will tell you not to for at least a few weeks. For me this included stuff in the kitchen as well as nythign in my medicine cabinet. ANYTHING you reach up for should be moved down for you.
- You will experience edema from the antibiotics for a while -- I'd include some fiber mix to help get that down faster.
- Expect some shooting pain even after the initial pain goes away. Its your nerves sort of re-figuring out how to work -- again depending on where the incision is.
- Be really careful when you drive. The biggest bitch is trying to turn around to check your blind spots / behind you when you back up or turn corners. My range of motion was very limited for a few weeks. This included going up & down stairs.

Even for unders, the worst pain is really over by the first day. The rest is just annoying and dealing w/ limited range of motion & tightness. Just take things slowly and you'll be fine!

And don't be surprised if the surgery "messes" with your emotions....

good advice here. The only thing I would add is that it took me about 6 wks (post-op) to go heavy on upper-body lifting...that was a bummer. Also, wear a support bra 24/7 for the first month so your implants settle in the pocket & massage them alot so you dont get capsular contraction.

YOu can PM if you other questions. It the best investment I ever made :)

Same here! I got mine done in Jan & started training for a BB show in April. First my chest was still really stiff & I got some sporadic muscle twitching when the weights got heavy, but eventually you get back to normal again.

I actually still sleep in a sports bra. Just more comfortable.

Here's something interesting .... I was always a stomach sleeper and w/ the new boobs I couldn't sleep comfortably flat on my stomach. So I started clenching my arms across my chest so I could sleep on my stomach but not have the girls squished flat. Be careful w/ this because it puts a big arch in your back & may be a partial contributor to my lower back problems now. I had to switch to sleeping on my side.

I'd like to get implants, but I need a lift too & me & hubby agree that the Anchor scar is NOT worth it currently. My PS also agrees......

I never realized that some of you ladies had implants. They all look VERY good :)
Whenever I've seen someone with them before they were always VERY large & noticably fake.
I was always worried about them sagging when I hit 50 - 60...... Do you just get them taken out?
All of your looks VERY nicely done :)

They say the avg lifespan of an implant is 10-15 yrs but there isn't alot of data to really say what it is -- they are relatively recent and the methods & materials are always improving.

As far as taking them out -- I don't plan to -- The stretching my body & pecs have had to do to accommodate them just woudln't be all that pretty. Just replace as needed. I hopefully won't be replacing any time soon, but you have to at least expect it at some point. I don't know about saggage. I've heard if you have implants and then have kids you will probably want to go in for a lift or a redo.

I almost died -- my new OB-GYN (lady) even complimented me on them. Kinda strange. But good I guess.

Take high dosages of vitamin c about 2 weeks prior to surgery to prep your immune system. Check out www.breastimplants4you.com - has a world of resources and a discussion board to chat and ask questions. Don't buy a lot of new bras until your implants drop and swelling stops - your comfort level in each bra will change as your body changes. Get a really good supportive sports bra - cardio will never be the same bouncing around with big boobs - check out www.enell.com --- the best sports bra ever - your breast wont bounce or move a bit when running or on the elliptical, which i can tell you isn't the most comfortable thing when the do bounce. Buy frozen peas - the conform to your body in the bags and work great and icepacks right after surgery to reduce swelling.

Any other questions, pm me.

You all are the BEST!!!! :qt:

I have been thinking about this for so long and am finally doing it!! I am 5'2" 113lb with a small Acup. I am going to go to a C. I don't want to go too big but don't want to wish I went bigger as soooo many people have warned me about. I was thinking about doing a 390 with a 400/410cc fill. I will obviously be taking the advice my doctor gives but I have been told some doctors will not push you to go big so you will want a re-do! Bad doctors if you ask me!! I know three people who went and got them bigger and one who just got them done and is mad she didn't go big enough! I would love any advice on size!!

I am soooo excited about my surgery and I just today had a friend give me her horible opinion on how she does not agree with it and it is a shallow decision!! Obviously she is not a friend that knows me very well, plus she is not into the gym lifestyle I am!! I am so upset with her! I love my body and this is not something I am doing to boost my confidence or get more attention! But I don't have to go through all that with you all, kinda why I like it here I don't get looked at funny for my lifestyle! Every single one of my gym friends understands, even my family does but this one person just has to be so stupid about it. Oh well no worries! Also I am from the northeast usa and it is not a huge thing up here like it is in the west or south. I have never been one to care what others think anyways!

I am extremely excited about my decision and yes I will be the cute little jacked girl with great boobs!!

Thanks everyone I appreciate it soooo much

I hope you have a good man or woman to massage your new boobies when you get them. I heard having them manually set hurts like hell.

What does that mean? I asked my doc about the whole massage thing and he didn't say anything about it -- he didn't bring it durign the consult about the whole recovery process & I'd heard so much about how important it was -- never needed anything like that.

Although a good boobage massage by a good man is a good thing..... but that's post-op...

Not every Plastic Surgeon does massage....some do & recommend it some don't.....they say it can prevent scarring or capsular contraction....

Mshad -- if you want plastic surgery for yourself, go do it....not everyone believes in it, but if it'll make you happy, do it....I didn't tell very many people about mine, well, none, and no one noticed....

Mshad - don't get upset by your so-called friend not supporting you. It's funny...how friends become jealous of your successes. She may not be into plastic surgery, but she should be into your friendship and if she cannot appreciate your wishes (regardless of whether or not she agree's with them), perhaps she should be your friend. Getting my boobs done was the best money I have ever saved for and spent in a moment!!! I don't know about you but attention when looking glamourous is fun for me and when you get your boobs done, you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. It's like an instant extreme makeover and you're in control. I loved getting them, i love having them and i would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve the way they look in that area. For me, it really helped my self-confidence - that may sound shallow, but it's the truth for me...and with this increased self-confidence i was able to take on lives obstacles with more confidence...and that is simply priceless. Good luck - pm me if you have any other questions.

Oh and yeah when you have to massage the implants - have someone "pop" them for you - it hurts like a bitch but my implants are soft as could be and even boyfriends in the past never realized that they weren't natural until i told them....good luck sweety...don't be nervous, it's revitalizing.

When I decided to do the surgery I called my parents about it -- I figured at the very least they had the right to know that I was going under anesthesia for invasive surgery in case something happened. My mom was all like "I wish you didn't feel like you had to do that...." But I said "I don't HAVE to do anything. But I WANT to do it." She and my dad were obviously a bit upset over the phone but I was glad I told them. Later that night I got a call back and they said they discussed it and fully supported whatever I wanted to do.

My parents are pretty kewl that way.

But yea, its all about you -- its your body, and you are being responsible about researching and making an informed decision. It has some risks, but then so does walking across the street. The important thing is that you have no reservations about your decision and you can always call your doc, ask more questions, talk to more people, move your scheduled date, or whatever and no one will judge you for it.

Personally, still, best decision I ever made.

Yup screw other people opinions (other than the supportive ones! hehe) Like I said I am doing this for me and not to get attention from guys!! First of all I am fully able to take care of myself and make my own decisions without having to second guess myself-wish people could trust that!! You ever feel like when you let someone into your life and express your insecurities and vulnerability to them they read it wrong and then you feel betrayed? I love boobs and have always thought the girl with great boobs was sexier than the one without and I am without! I need to feel sexy for myslef not a guy! I am super confident about my body and this is only going to bring me to the next level! Just cuz God didn't give them to me dosn't mean he dosn't want me to have them right? hehe

Thank you all soo much I know where I can come for support my "friend" should give me! By the way she is the ONLY one giving me crap everyone else, no matter what their personal view is is trusting me and supporting me in my decision!!!

I have recently been thinking of getting implants myself - i really would like to feel a little more confident about myself and would love to get a larger bust. If I do indeed decide to go this way im coming to you ladies. :)

D - speaking as someone who wears contacts because I am near-sighted and has a boob job because I had a "descending B cup", I would honestly say don't change yourself unless you really feel the need to. And I'm not saying I'm judging or anything -- but simply why add the risk, cost and maintenance if you don't need to? I'd be very happy if I had 20/20 vision and a nice perky B cup. But I don't. Nothin even near.

Just a thought ...
