took the kids to Hershey Park today. my ass is completely worn out right now too. we also had the son of one of her friends with us.
kids were GREAT today. some of the best behavior i've seen out of them in a long time. i was very impressed.
rode all the roller coasters except 3. one was shut down, the other 2 i couldn't take this girl's son on with me because he was too short. i was going to get on their newest one, Storm Runner, but the line was an hour long and i didn't feel like waiting. they were having problems with it all day too. they shut it down at least 3 times during the course of the day. would've loved to ride it though....0-72mph in 2 seconds and it hits vertical on the up and down of the first hill. wicked fast and it just looked completely insane. my type of ride.
one of the roller coasters we were able to get our son on with an adult (he's 4 and barely 40"). i'd say the thing hits maybe 35mph in the corkscrew at the end. nothing insane, but worth the wait if you just want a quick thrill.
we start going up the hill, and as soon as we begin to come down, my son puts his hands in the air right away and starts screaming and laughing. i spent the entire ride just watching him enjoy himself. then we hit the corkscrew at the end....
i saw a look of sheer terror hit his face and immediately though "oh no! i've lost him! he's never going to want to ride a roller coaster again!"
as soon as we came whipping out of the corkscrew, the brakes came on and we were rolling into the station. he was laughing hysterically, so proud of himself. afterwards, he said "i rode MY roller coaster."
the little girl didn't fare so well.....i had gotten her on the Super Dooper Looper earlier in the day and she was semi-ok afterwards. i pretty much held her up after the loop and talked her through the rest of the ride...telling her when we were about to drop again or go into a turn. a while after that, we hit a wooden coaster and due to how much it jerked us around and the seats in it, i wasn't able to hold her up at all or talk her through the ride. she was crying after that one.
she was crying hysterically after the one we got our son on, and i can't figure out why. hell, earlier in the day she went through loop and hit faster speeds and wasn't nearly as affected. that last one she got on was just as smooth if not smoother than the loop she took earlier in the day. i think i'm losing her when it comes to thrill seeking at amusement parks.
my boy just needs to hit a growth spurt over the next year so i can get him onto bigger rides. i knew he had it in him.
going to another, much smaller, amusement park on Saturday for the gf's company picnic. there's a wooden coaster there, The Phoenix, that's rated in the top 10 coasters in the states. if my son makes the height requirement, you can bet your ass i'm getting him on there
