i'm so proud to be DAD right now

took the kids to Hershey Park today. my ass is completely worn out right now too. we also had the son of one of her friends with us.

kids were GREAT today. some of the best behavior i've seen out of them in a long time. i was very impressed.

rode all the roller coasters except 3. one was shut down, the other 2 i couldn't take this girl's son on with me because he was too short. i was going to get on their newest one, Storm Runner, but the line was an hour long and i didn't feel like waiting. they were having problems with it all day too. they shut it down at least 3 times during the course of the day. would've loved to ride it though....0-72mph in 2 seconds and it hits vertical on the up and down of the first hill. wicked fast and it just looked completely insane. my type of ride.

one of the roller coasters we were able to get our son on with an adult (he's 4 and barely 40"). i'd say the thing hits maybe 35mph in the corkscrew at the end. nothing insane, but worth the wait if you just want a quick thrill.

we start going up the hill, and as soon as we begin to come down, my son puts his hands in the air right away and starts screaming and laughing. i spent the entire ride just watching him enjoy himself. then we hit the corkscrew at the end....

i saw a look of sheer terror hit his face and immediately though "oh no! i've lost him! he's never going to want to ride a roller coaster again!"

as soon as we came whipping out of the corkscrew, the brakes came on and we were rolling into the station. he was laughing hysterically, so proud of himself. afterwards, he said "i rode MY roller coaster."

the little girl didn't fare so well.....i had gotten her on the Super Dooper Looper earlier in the day and she was semi-ok afterwards. i pretty much held her up after the loop and talked her through the rest of the ride...telling her when we were about to drop again or go into a turn. a while after that, we hit a wooden coaster and due to how much it jerked us around and the seats in it, i wasn't able to hold her up at all or talk her through the ride. she was crying after that one.

she was crying hysterically after the one we got our son on, and i can't figure out why. hell, earlier in the day she went through loop and hit faster speeds and wasn't nearly as affected. that last one she got on was just as smooth if not smoother than the loop she took earlier in the day. i think i'm losing her when it comes to thrill seeking at amusement parks.

my boy just needs to hit a growth spurt over the next year so i can get him onto bigger rides. i knew he had it in him.

going to another, much smaller, amusement park on Saturday for the gf's company picnic. there's a wooden coaster there, The Phoenix, that's rated in the top 10 coasters in the states. if my son makes the height requirement, you can bet your ass i'm getting him on there  :D

Glad you had fun. I've been going to six flags with my daughter every summer for many years. Don't do the roller coasters anymore though. I'm too old.

dude, you're NEVER too old for the coasters.

well, unless you've got a pacemaker and are carrying an oxygen tank.

even then though, i'd still ride 'em.

She's old enough now that I just drop her friends and her off and pick them up at closing. I rode one ride this year and that was enough for me. I was all relaxed and calm and then I stepped on Mr. Freeze and during the ride I asked myself, "What in the fuck are you doing this for?" My brains were scrambled and Iwanted to puke.

Talked my 12 yr old Daughter into waiting for the front row of Storm Runner
on our 3rd run. The Acceleration is so intense it literally takes your breath away.
She also loved it, and is now my "Roller Coaster buddy" as Mrs Y won't go on them..

Went on 2 of the water rides while Mrs Y watched. One is a hanging type coaster where you can drop 10 gal water bombs on people walking below as the slow 4 person coaster rolls over the area. We got soaked.

She is not looking forward to going on Kraken at Sea World as she has never been tall enough or brave enough to do that one..

I swear I thought I was going to open this and there would be a pic of Crak's little kid with a rifle in his hand!

Exactly. Precisely. But even more so at Cheap n' Dangerous traveling carneys.

My oldest was like "Cmon Dad! Lets eat all the sugar fried pig crap money can buy and then go on the 'SpineWarping VomitComet' where you can desperately hold on to my little brother so he doesn't fly out of the ride and get his medula oblongata pasted from the corndog stand all the way to the Tilt-n-Hurl ride."

Nope. Not me. Not again. I'll just hang out and crack gay jokes to humiliate the 'strong man' and oggle the white trash chicks snapping their gum while franticly text-messaging each other from twenty feet away. I also like the booths where you can bullwhip the pasties of the nipples of a ten foot bull-dyke and win a cotton candy goat.

Sounds like you are a great dad, Have fun with them while they are young and you will remember this times when you get older. Soon the kids will have grown up and moved away managing their lifes and familys, then all you will have is the memories you make now

ok, i'm now jealous that Y_Lifter got to ride Storm Runner not once, but 3x. oh well, at least we got into the park for free :)

Clementon Park? where in the hell is that?

was supposed to have tix for Dorny Park but they never showed up. kind of pissed about that actually. they've got a lot more rides.

hey Chef, Bloomsburg Fair is coming up next month....i think i might have to hang around the strong man for a while

Ah...the annual Six Flags trip. My kids are old enought for the roller coasters, but my wife refuses.

The Texas Gaint feels like a car wreck.
On the Titan, the guy behind us blacked out. And when I got off of Mr. Freeze....I was actually younger.

I was feeling pretty hot shit up until then. Now I know how my parents felt.

at the end of the day, i knew how my parents felt taking us to amusement parks too. the drive home went much faster than the drive down there though. almost an hour and a half down, but only an hour home. over all the years my parents took us to amusement parks, i'd always fall asleep on the ride home, even a few times when i had a gf to bring along....we'd fall asleep in the back of my dad's van curled up together.

was one hell of a long day too...we had the car parked before 930 and the park didn't even open until 10. we took a trip through Chocolate World and then got into the park just after 10am. we didn't head towards the gift shops until after 9pm, didn't leave the park until 10.

the fact that i only got 4 hours of sleep didn't help matters at all.

yeah, but i think you have to be some special season pass holder and pay extra on top of that to use the express line.

the next time i go to an amusement park, i'm going to get a big fat cast from my foot all the way to the bottom of my ankle and rent one of those little motorized tingies that you see old people and fat people riding on. i'll also have a cane and make it look like i can't walk very well. in this manner, i won't have to wait in line at all....i'll be able to just go up the "out" side of every ride and hop right on.

hey, i saw others doing it yesterday, so why can't i? :D

checked the ride height restrictions at the place we're going to this weekend....unless i strap some 4" thick shoes on him, i can't take him on the Phoenix :bawling:
