I'm really starting to hate what I do. Like, honestly fucking hate it.

I hate everything except sex and drinking.... So I'm miserable about 95% of the time.

So, what's the new gig going to be? You never said...

I don't know. I've just been working harder than I ever for 1/4 of the results. I'm getting burnt out and have been genuinely unhappy. I have a few options, just seeing which would be the best fit.

Your "wife" has full health coverage at her current job? Consider yourself lucky on that front at least.

Having options is great. If you are unhappy, explore all your options and go for it!

She does, so yeah... that's good. It's just that I'm not thrilled about starting something brand new three months away from being a new daddy.

I've always been a risk taker, so I can't relate. :)

However, I HAVE found if anything did not "feel" right- I walked away before leaping. Trust your own gut instinct.

When my son was born, DH took a "paternity" leave of sorts (Family and Medical Leave Act FMLA) for as long as he could to try his hand at a new career while keeping his job and securing his benefits there while he decided to change careers.

So, in a sense, he was two-timing his employer under the guise of FMLA. Woulda been great if he had decided to go into the new career but at the end he decided to stick with his career.

Now, he's basically self-employed on 100% commission. That can be tough as well. When it's good it's really, really good and when it's crappy...well, you know the rest of the story.

So Did Jnev figure out yet his best job would be to serve cheese at the Cheese Hut dressed as Captain Cheese?

I've been 100% commission for the last 10 years.

Ok, yeah, "paternity leave" would suck for you. Daddy no worky, Family is screwed now, lol.

We have every calendar marked up at our house with closings and our are even starting to pick up on the excitement of daddy getting paid, lol.

Your market is one of the only in the country that's doing well. Good for him, it's a tough business.

I'll trade ya. as long as you aren't afraid of heights and building intricate scaffolding and busting your ass for 8 hrs per day. also you get great insurance. Also you may get really dirty.
