I'm Really having a Difficult time coming up with a decision...

Well I'm taking 22 units at school this semester, and we're into our 2nd week...A few days ago, i get a call from a staffing agency for a company called Skill-storm.. basically they pay 15 bucks an hour to be a QA Engineer/Tester. My friend has been working there for about 3 months now...

I'm currently a broke college student@ 21 years of age, with little to no funds coming in. I'm majoring in accounting. I can get an internship after this semester (I'm not sure if i'll be getting paid, it says there's a possibility it can go both ways).

If I get this job, my friend and I can get an apartment and live comfortably by the end of 2009, and I'd be able to buy stuff I'd want....a new classical guitar, maybe a painting set, or put together a godly computer.

I mean, I've already bought the books, but that's a sunk cost, it's over with...

I'm seriously having a hard time trying to come up with a decision, whether to finish school, or take this job....

In the long run, I know school would benefit me the most/best investment (and i'm sorta thinking, i'll be getting paid as an assistant Atleast by the end of 2009, making more or less than 15 bucks an hour)

Then again, 15 bucks an hour and getting more work experience as a QA-Tester (my 1st QA-testing position was at Sony and paid 9 bucks an hour)+ being able to move out and living in peace n quiet also sounds tempting

O ya...and overtime at this place over the weekends pays roughly 20-23 bucks an hour...

I'm seriously trying to think..I have until the end of today to come up with a choice.

Feedback is appreciated.

getting a job in undergrad was the best thing ever for me. Drop down to 15 hrs a sem, take the job, then next sem see if u can bump it back up. U dont have to quit school to get a job.

speaking from my experience

finish school, get your cpa and money will come your way-i promise you that

If you quit school now, its gonna be much harder to go back to school. YOu are gonna get stuck at 15-20 bucks an hour which is nothing in todays economy. Believe me, i know how tough it is to jugle school and work--its gonna pay off.
think about it...if you drop out now, you are gonna be making around 35K a year. YOu are gonna be able to afford a few things (not much though) but make ends meet depending where you live. You are gonna get stuck in a rut and waste valuable time.

second option..finish school get your cpa..without your cpa your degree is useless...anyway once you are done you will be making 60K as a start its not bad at all.

now why are you gonna settle..just finish the damn thing

ya, you're right. thanks for the input.

$15/hours is $31,200 per year. The OT will pay at $22.50.

Personally, I'd finish school. You'll come out of undergrad making at least $40,000 & it will only increase from there. Eventually you can get your masters, sit for the CPA and make some bigger money. You would be cutting your balls off earning potential wise to quit school now and take a $15/hour job.

I don't know if "units" = "hours" but taking 22 hours and working 40 hours each week with OT on the weekends wouldn't be doable. In my upper level classes my senior year, I worked around 25 hours each week and took 16 hours of class, it was a bitch.

so drop a couple classes then? whats teh big deal? I worked 40 hrs a week and took 18 hours for 3 years, and still grad'd at the top of my class.
