Dude, get out of there!! I lived with two guys my freshman year (in an apartment, though) and they drank, smoked, stayed up all late, had huge parties, and I hated it--but I had signed a 9-month lease...

You CAN move, so do it.

I live alone now, so I don't have to put up with anyone's bullshit!!

Roomates suck...well, most PEOPLE suck (as Warik will surely agree with me on!!), and living with them only makes it more obvious.

(Oh yeah, I'm on that list, too, y'all. No weed, rap music, and hell, I'm 20 and haven't had my first beer yet, LOL!)

Start by talking to the guy -- at least he can respect you for that. If anyone comes into the room looking for drug paraphenalia you might get sucked into it. If you can move, do it. Then the guy will know its just difference of lifestyle & nothing personal. That way, no big deal. It just gets miserable if you have to keep asking him to stop smoking or whatever-- what he's doing is completely illegal and against dorm & school rules. And annoying to you. There's enough stress in going away to school - you don't need more.

Iron , as a guy who had to endure several roomates from hell. Here is a bit o advice I learned. The next guy you get could be 10x worse then this one!
I understand your problem, I am a nonsmoker also, all forms, and would not put up with it.
However, dont be a snitch-bitch. Just part ways,but recall that the next guy could be a bigger assface. I mean maybe the guy? maybe he will smoke in the other stoners rooms? If he his cool talk to him. My sweetmates were the biggest stoners on campus. They respected that fact I did not smoke. They really enjoyed the fact that I was not blown out when they got the munchies, so I could drive, I always had free food then......

I'm a junior at Florida International University. Not a dorm student, though. Live at home. (thank God )

being a former floor advisor for a college dorm I can tell you, unless your dorm rules are fucked up and way over crowded that you can probably talk yourself into another room or your roomate into another room. Just tell who ever is in charge of your floor that you 2 have a conflict of interest that can't be resolved. and Tell them why. Dont beat around the bush but be truthfull about it

it will go a long way to proving to your floor person that you would be better off and so would they if your roomate found another room
