I'm Going To Buy A Vcr - Help

MY NIECE HAS JUST SENT ME A VIDEO OF HER 2 YEAR OLD PLAYING. I NEED A VCR! I KNOW I COULD RENT ONE FOR 9$ OR SO, BUT I HAVE BEEN NEEDING ONE FOR A WHILE - I WOULD LIKE TO TAPE SOME SHOWS I MISS, I.E. "SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN FRONTIERS", AND SOME NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORERS. ALSO MAYBE WATCH A RENTAL MOVIE ONCE IN A WHILE.

I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VCR BEFORE.

WHAT KIND DO YOU RECOMMEND? ARE THERE ANY TECHNOLOGIES I SHOULD LOOK FOR? IS THERE ANY *REAL* ADVANTAGE TO A VERY NICE ONE?

Stick with either Toshiba or Panasonic, nothing new and exciting in the world of VCR's but you get what you pay for, if you buy some 30$ vcr expect that it wont last but a year.

HOW DOES A VCR BREAK? I DON'T SEE HOW IT WOULD?

ANYWAY YES THEY STILL MAKE VCR'S.

vcr's break because of cheap components, things like the heads, inner bands and receiver all can wear fairly quickly if they are not quality parts.

I'd go with the JVC HR-S9600U . You can get it for around 500 bucks.


Otherwise, if you want something less expensive get the Panasonic PV-V4620. You can get that for around 120.

Both are great vcrs, the first one just has more features.
