dude, you've made 158 posts and you're gonna start in with the "i'm bored" threads?

go read the training forum.

I was tuning my bow and trying out my new 7" 10.3 oz. Doinker Elite Series stabalizer/vibration dampener. Also got some SGH's for small game... should hold up much better than the Judo points.

Damper, not dampener. To damp is to reduce the effects of vibration or resonance, to dampen is to get wet.

I'm pulling weeds in the garden, cleaning the boat and the house. Whoopie. =-(

Sorry, it's actually dampener. Here's Bass Pro's link, it's under "Vibration Dampeners"

Although what I got functions primarily as a stabilizer:

You do have a semantical point though, I am curious as to the spelling descrepency.

Actually, it looks like it could be either:

Quick definitions (dampener)

noun: a device that dampens or moistens something (Example: "He used a dampener to moisten the shirts before he ironed them")
See dampen

and

Dashpot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Dampener)

A dashpot is a mechanical device, a damper which resists motion via viscous friction. The resulting force is proportional to the velocity, but acts in the opposite direction, slowing the motion and absorbing energy. It is commonly used in conjunction with a spring (which acts to resist displacement). The diagram symbol for a dashpot is pictured at right.

Like I said, I'm totally new to this. Often, sub-cultures of stuff like archery and stuff kinda steal and invent their own terms for stuff (e.g. bling-bling, dogg, gon' gank yo boo), lol.
