and i am a sprinter. i've always had low bodyfat, and stayed lean even doing no cardio whatsoever (well, i do do forms of cardio, road hockey, stuff like that). well the last time i did flat out cardio, running outside, i was doing a regular 4times a week 5k run. this was 1 year ago. since then i've began training much harder and put on quite a bit of weight.

race is sunday. (now i'm aiming to finish, lol)

any tips/last minute advice?

start out slow, look to do your first mile slower then the 2nd and the 2nd slower then the 3rd.

Good advice...make sure to pace yourself. That's one reason I can't run outside anymore...I end up just sprinting for like 5 minutes and burning out. When I'm on the treadmill I can just put it at a lower setting and go forever.

Pacing is important. Keep a watch with you so you can see what your pace is at on the half-mile markers.

If there are no half-mile markers, get a can of spray paint and go out with your car the night before and try to mark the road.

Even better, get one of those GPS Time + Distance watches. I have one and it has helped me tremendously.
