im starting to go to the gym and im trying to acheive a certain image. i dont want to be ripped out of my brain but i want to be buff. particularly in the traps, biceps, and chest, i have a link below to a video of what im trying to achieve
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO_lxN4cuIo

so how would i acheive that type of build? what exercises?, protein powder? i dont want to take roids and im sure that guy in the video didnt take them
thanks for the help

That guys looks like shit and trains like it too. Bodybuilding is a lifestyle, that is best answer I can give you.

Get a good personal trainer to help dial in your diet and proper training techniques. Dont listen to your friends cause if they are anything like mine they dont know shit. To get a good upper bod you have to have a good lower bod. Do lots of deadlifts...i could go on and on. Research is key.

Lots a good info here, and people that can help
But don't PM me for a source again.

Who ever is in that video you stop talking to right now... I mean right this instance he is one bicept curl away from a major spinal injury. Now as a newb to the sport and this board I am going to give you 2 pieces of the best advice your going to ever get.. First find a certified trainer with references to teach you all the basics excercises and the correct way to do them, this is very important. Learning the right way to do a movement from the beginig is the best thing you can do in this sport..Secondly as ur learning from a personal trainer start your research on this board, this board has 1 an extensive database of knowledge and 2 a lot of good bros who are willing to help you succeed..

first, that guy in the video looks like a jackass.
second, if your a noob to weight lifting in general and just started lifting, then you should be on the weight lifting, diet, or supplement board.
NOT THE AAS BOARD!!!

i hate guys like that, who think that their all big doin bicep curls when in fact their form sucks and everyone is laughing at them. That guy in that video probably has no clue about diet either, and he's rolling with a pretty high bf percentage... Plain and simple, i wouldn't wanna look like that...

Its like his arm is fixed at a 90 degree and he is just moving his hand up to his face.

Thats were the difference between " weightlifters" and "bodybuilders" come into play.
Weightlifting is just that lifting weights ,bodybuilders are scuplting the body
with excersizes and form that build the body .Not always concerned on the total weight moved But more concerned on optimal muscle growth.

But when the weight needs to be increased. Bodybuilders increase the weight to stimulate new growth but do not jeapordize form .Becuase bodybuilders know bad form will reduce the stimulation of muscle growth.

does that guy in the video even know what BF% is, dont think so and on top of it hes thinks hes training bis and hes training his back in a wrong, F..ked up way. hes so out he dont even know it,DO NOT FOLLOW AFTER HIM please!!

Simplest advice I could give to a newbie would be "Eat like a horse and train like a beast" and don't touch juice until you have reached your natural max. Use your money for quality food and not supplements. Whey protein and creatine are more than enough in the beginning.

Stick to basic barbell excercises. Stay away from machines and stick to free weights. Use dumbbells at a minimum. Don't overtrain and give your body plenty of rest.

You keep saying that you want to look like the guy in the vid and you are asking us how to acheive that look. The problem is we train, diet and live in an attempt NOT to look like the guy in the vid, so it is hard to advise you on how to train to look like this guy. He doesn't look like total crap, he has some size but he looks very sloppy.

My guess would be alot of d-bol, decca, McDonalds, and half ass training. If you want big arms though, make sure you work your tri's not just bi's.

My advice would be to start basic and not try any advanced workouts. As others have said find someone who truly knows about good form and learn how to do the lifts right. Your hero in the vid could have taken 20lbs off that bar and used proper form and he would have had a more productive workout. There are alot of good books available through elite, I have heard great things about Nelsons work and I am personally waiting for NEEDTO's cookbook. Good luck bro.
