Ignorant new guy - shipping question

Hoping someone can give me an answer or at least some good advice here...

If I order something LEGALLY importable from a foreign country, and can use any shipping method I choose to USA... what is the best shipping method in terms of the least delay time in customs?

Anyone know - I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
