Sorry but I agree with most that CN1 says. I'm too selfish of a person to ever risk my life for a country. Maybe if my immediate family was in some sort of immediate danger where I had to fight or die then yes but to jump on a plane and go fight a country. Nope sorry. If we go to war, and we probably will, those in the miltary are not fighting for our government, they are fighting for our people, for our freedom, for our country & way of life, and against terrorism and oppression. Like you & many other people, I believe our government sure a shit has made mistakes, they've fucked people over and too many times decisions are made not for the benefit of the people, but on the basis of financial backing and lobbying. Blame the congressmen for that, if you must.

But to spit in the face of those serving our country, not as politicians, but as peacekeepers and defenders, you are a sack of human shit. You should not be in the military, but should be taken and used as a human shield to be killed before anyone with honor and courage. Or you should be drafted and "accidentally" shot in the back of the head during "training" exercises. It's extremely unfortunate that you & people like you live in this country...feel free to pack your shit & your worthless ass up and MOVE THE FUCK OUT whenever you choose.

No, I'm not enlisted, though I was awarded an USAF ROTC scholarship to the college of my choice. I would have accepted it if my eyesight weren't shit & I could fly. I have my degree, I have a job paying more than your shit ass can probably hope to make because no one will be able to stand your stink, I have a life & a girl, yet I would defend our country if I were ever called to do so. I'm far from being a dumbass, far from being ignorant, I have a life, have never been arrested and I also have something you don't: honor, courage, pride in my country and love for my fellow man (you excluded, of course).

And to those of you who say you'd rather rot in jail or dodge a draft: (1) prison can be far, far worse than fighting...but be my guest; (2) draft dodgers are also scum. Delinquent, you should leave the country...and never come back, but at least you admit to your cowardly selfishness...asshole.

Well, to answer the original thread, if there was a draft guys like CN1 and Delinquent would end up in uniform I'm sure, and hate every minute of it. Their fear of serving would be eclipsed by their fear of giving up the booty in jail if it came down to it. I'm sure many Vietnam and Korean War draftees made the same stupid comments before they found themselves in combat.

Those with military experience tend to be the ones who succeed in our society. Tex College Guy wil be one of them. I am sure that if he stays employed, CN1 will many, many times call some former enlisted soldier (if he hasn't already), "boss".

Of course I have no wife and no kids that I know of...I have lived in plenty of small towns but spent most of my life in Houston TX and have lived Big City life. I have a good idea what thats all about and it doesn't have to mean shit.

I've seen city war zones a few times when I ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have a faimly, 2 parents, a sister, 3 granparents, over 11 first cousins, 12 aunts and uncles

plenty of faimly whom I love very much, and plenty whom have served this nation. None of which were drafted

My father doesn't support my choice of the military. He was lucky in his opinion not to get drafted into Vietnam as they ended the draft what should have been his Sr yr but was his Jr yr in highschool. I think he doesn't support me fully cause his father pushed him to go into the military and he didn't feel it was right for him, perhaps he feels i'm going into the military for the opposite reasons why he didn't. I don't always love my govt and dont always trust what they do, but they(Army, military) is allowing me to join into another faimly. I love my country, and pitty those who do not.

You know what CN1 I shold appoligize for lashing out, since I felt insulted by your comments. Your perspective is just that, your own. Perhaps You will feel a bit of pitty if something happens to one of us and know that we freely choose this path in hopes of protecting you and your faimly as well as our own faimlies...I only hope you develop some compassion for us.

I'm not ignorant, I come from a faimly that didn't require me to enlist, I've gone to college for awhile, never been arrested and have lived a full life so far considering I'm 21, and I have plenty of friends who love me

I like to think that to sumarize why I'm going into the military would be explained as "I'm taking the Road less traveled"
