if i wanted to book a big name music artist for a concert i'm promoting

In addition to my response to 300lbs of get down, if you're promoting a concert and wish to host one or more national act, be prepared to spend big for staging, sound, lights, power, security, stagehands, insurance, an appropriate venue, catering and hospitality for acts and crew, beer and liquor sales for audience, and a host of other things... If you're not willing to do it right, if you're trying to do a show on a shoestring budget, stop now.

What kind of attendance numbers are you estimating? I mean, are you shooting for 2000, 5000, 10000, more?

if u got $150g's - hire a veteran music industry guy to do all that for you.

hell, how serous are you? mail me a check for $1gs and i'll point you to all the music contacts you need. i'm 3-4 phone calls away from reaching anyone in this biz. i just need a good reason when i call someone.

as a 'guy with the money' you should be concentrating on more important things, then googling websites trying to find contacts. Let someone else do the grunt work.

eh, i was trying to make a point.

get someone, even local, who knows the scene and has experience in that - and get them to do all the grunt work.

trust me. you have other areas to worry about. marketing. taxes. permits. insurance. legal. security. website etc. you'll have your hands full, so u dn't want to waste that time doing research someone else can do for you.

There are many ways, most often CD's can even have booking info. now as well. I have a school friend that was a member of Citizen King (Better Days) before they broke up, he recommended Grabow as a reputable booking agency that will do all of the leg work for you............For a price of course.

I've not run across a list but I do know first hand, that about 11-12 years ago it cost $5,000.00 to get people like Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock. :)

Wow not bad 5k for Rob base back then. Costed us around $15k to have DJ David Guetta for a 4 hours set...
