Just came back from Idaho this weekend from A wedding.I would tell anybody who's never been there to go visit it.People were way cool lot of activites kayaking, climbing, witewater, fishing.hard core mountain biking.I was in boise 160,000 people. No crime.Dude I'm moving there.Thats my travle tip for the week.Oh yea the weather was 90+ every day.

I've been saying this for over a year now and nobody believes me.
I genuinely want to move out there, it is beautiful and you don't get the crazy expensive cities like where I am now.
I hear it is very similar to Oregon - which makes sense since it is near there.

Scaps I tell you I look at A few houses while I was there and for 125-160,000 dude you can get A big beautiful house. For A 110,000 you can get something very nice though.

that's so awesome. in my neighboorhood here, everything in in the millions. I don't have millions.
I'd love to move out to Idaho, but everyone laughs when I say that. they always mention potatos and freemen... I think those are the guys - the people that hate the government?

I'm a computer programmer and can do it from anywhere in the world as long as I have a fast internet connection, so I might as well move somewhere nice where it is clean and the roads aren't all fucked up and it isn't so expensive.

The other thing that is cool is your 5-7 hours away from Lake TAhoe.Seattle ,Bend oregon or you can fly for 60.00 one way.80.00 round trip to vegas. The only negatives were it can get rel fucking hot 105 degress. Not alot of culture I saw no black people or asian small hispanic populatoin.I like Alittle more diversity myself.I don't know what the job markets like but y0u being A computer programmer that should'nt be A problem. My friend are chemical engeniers they make bank there cost of living was very good:cool:

damn, now I have to convince my girlfriend to move out there. we were thinking Boulder (aka "heaven") CO or somewhere in Cali.
either way I'll be here for at least another year. if I start freelancing like I'm trying to then the move there will be much easier.

as for the heat, I don't mind that, I don't like the cold, I grew up in the south and like heat.
as for the cultural diversity - we're all the same anyway - I can hate another white idiot just as well as an idiot from another country - just as I can have a best friend of any color too.

I've spent plenty of time up in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. The problem is, everybody wants to move there or vacation there and in the last couple of years I've seen it change. Pretty soon the calmness, mystique and beauty of these places will be overshadowed by all of the preppy yuppie trash moving there.

(This isn't directed at you guys by the way)

WF -

That happens everywhere. People move someplace to be different, and then in the end, they make it into the place they moved from, which defeats the purpose and ruins the area.

Scrappy - go for it.

Damn straight Wfabrizio- I live in Northern Michigan and its slowly going to shit because of the fudgies coming up here and writing checks for the land and building shit to vacation in and then telling us to knock our shit off because they are here to relax. I'm not oving but if I did, it would be to a place with a little less winter length

Scrap I lived in boulder for two years the people are kind of stuck up plus it's expensive I'm tellin you I lived in Cali fo 9years washington-State ,oreogon-very nice and this was one of the nicest over all .Although Santa Barbra so beatiful and the chicks are to fine but it's soooooooooo expensive good luck if you move.AS far as moving goes people always move where it's nice you just got to get there before everybody else does. That way your never the tourist:cool:

I'm a bike guy but I've been around sleds quite a bit as well, you know what is pissing me off? Over in West Yellowstone (and all over the northern states) they are absolutely trying everything they can to ban snowmobiles from the whole area.

OK, 2-strokes do smoke alot when they first start up, but you know what? No amount of snowmobiles will ever produce as much pollution as all of the cars and buses driving into West Yellowstone.

It's all because of the yuppies who want to make everything just the way that they like it. Most of the true locals can give a shit, it's the transplants from California that are stirring the shit up.

hmmm, I think I'm technically a yuppie (yuppy?) so I guess I fit in the category of "there goes the neighborhood" when I show up.
or perhaps its "here comes the neighborhood"

either way, I'd like to move there.

I Live in Oregon now,but went to school at Boise state. If it wasnt for money i believe i would moove back to idaho...Biose is a great city...You got lakes rivers skiing and decent nightlife there....

I lived in Boise from '91-'96, moved away and currently live here again and I love it~
It has grown but still maintains a nice small city feel. Lots better than Portland, Oregon!
It has also become quite the little silicon valley, with Oracle, HItachi, HP, Micron, Zylog, etc etc putting offices here.
